Book Description
Excerpt from World Flaxseed Prospects, 1931 Present indications are that the world crop of flaxseed in the 1930-31 season will exceed the previous record crop of 1927-28 when bushels were harvested. Estimates of the crop from the fourteen countries which have reported to date total bushels compared with bushels in 1927-28. Russia is the only large producing country for which no estimate of production is available and reports on acreage and condition indicates that the crop in that country is the largest in many years. Acreage and condition reports from other countries not yet reporting production also indicate larger than average crops. Book Description
Excerpt from World Flaxseed Situation, 1949 World flaxseed production, trade, and consumption have taken some unexpected turns during the postwar period, and the situation in 1949 is unique. There are large stocks of flaxseed and linseed oil in Canada, the United States, and Argentina; there is a relative abundance of low priced competing oils; the prewar large consuming countries in Europe lack an effective demand; and production in most of South America has declined. Consequently the future position of flaxseed in world markets is uncertain. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Production alone, however, is 22 per cent higher. These estimates are based on production reported for 14 countries, Which includes the United States, Canada and Argentina, and stocks of old crop at the beginning of the season for these three countries, assuming carryover for Argentina this year to be negligible. The only countries of importance not included are India and Russia. Prices have weakened somewhat during the past three months in three important markets, Minneapolis, Winnipeg and Buenos Aires, but the decline has been slightly less in the United States than in Canada or Argentina.
