What Christ Did for Women

What Christ Did for Women PDF Author: Robyn Power Georges
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 9781453595015
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 336

Book Description
In spite of women tele-evangelists now on satellite TV, the average woman in the average Christian Church is still unsure of her identity in Christ. She hears statements like, God will use a woman in leadership if there is no man to do the job and feels like a second class citizen. Is Gods preference in leadership really based on sexual gender? Is a woman really inferior in Gods eyes? Is she really forbidden to teach and preach before men just because she is a woman? What Christ Did For Women (This Includes You, Gentlemen) takes a provocative, but soundly scriptural look at the extent of Christs deliverance of women. This book examines the full personhood of woman that Christ and His Apostles fought for, but which is still largely unseen even in the Church that claims His leadership.

Junia

Junia PDF Author: Eldon Jay Epp
Publisher: Fortress Press
ISBN: 9780800637712
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 164

Book Description
The name "Junia" appears in Romans 16:7, and Paul identifies her (along with Andronicus) as "prominent among the apostles." In this important work, Epp investigates the mysterious disappearance of Junia from the traditions of the church. Because later theologians and scribes could not believe (or wanted to suppress) that Paul had numbered a woman among the earliest churches' apostles, Junia's name was changed in Romans to a masculine form. Despite the fact that the earliest churches met in homes and that other women were clearly leaders in the churches (e.g., Prisca and Lydia), calling Junia an apostle seemed too much for the tradition. Epp tracks how this happened in New Testament manuscripts, scribal traditions, and translations of the Bible. In this thoroughgoing study, Epp restores Junia to her rightful place.

Worthy

Worthy PDF Author: Elyse Fitzpatrick
Publisher: Baker Books
ISBN: 1493422669
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 194

Book Description
What does the Bible say about the value of women? Does the Bible teach that women are as valuable as men or does it portray them as somehow more flawed, more suspect, or weak and easily deceived? Beginning from Genesis and working all the way through the storyline of the Bible, Worthy demonstrates the significant and yes, even surprising, ways that God has used women to accomplish His kingdom goals. Because, like men, they are created in His image, their lives reflect and declare His worth. Worthy will enable and encourage both men and women to embrace this true and lofty vision of God's creation, plan, and their value in His eyes. Bestselling author Elyse Fitzpatrick and pastor Eric Schumacher together invite women to embrace a transformative and empowering view of their Maker, themselves, and the church. But this isn't only a book for women. It is also a book for men, especially leaders, who want to grow in their understanding of God's perspective on women, people who normally make up the majority of their congregations; men who might be wondering if they've missed something amid the abuse scandals that are rocking the church. Might the headlines they're reading today about abuse have their roots in a denigration of the value and worth of women? Worthy: Celebrating the Value of Women will help every reader see the value, place, and calling of women through study questions and a "Digging Deeper" section that will help men and women discover how to cherish, value, and honor one another for God's glory.
