Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Book Description
Excerpt from Welsh Religious Leaders in the Victorian Era One reason why I don't write a Preface is because no one takes the trouble to read it through. Its utility, like the editor's leaderette, has, I am told, fallen out of estimation. If I wrote one, it would be necessary for me to explain why I have omitted such men as Roger Edwards, Constable Ellis of Llanfairfechan, Rector Griffiths of Merthyr, Professor Morgan, Thomas Jones, Samuel Roberts, and others. The responsibility for the selection made devolves upon myself. It is clear that all Welshmen of note in the Victorian Era could not have been included. My object has been to present the public with a fair representation of the makers of modern Wales on its religious and literary side. With this purpose in view I have selected certain types of men from every grade and every organisation. In Dr Lewis Edwards, Dr William Rees (Hiraethog), Rev. J. H. Evans (Cynfaen), Rev. R. Ellis (Cynddelw), and Dean Edwards of Bangor, we have the man of genius in each section. In Dr Owen Thomas, Dr Herber Evans, Dr John Thomas of Liverpool, Rev. John Evans (Eglwys Bach), Rev. Evan Thomas of Newport, and Archdeacon Griffiths of Neath, we have the great preacher. In Dr Thomas Charles Edwards and Dr Thomas of Pontypool we have the educationist.
