Book Description
I joined Teletype in 1973, at a time when the popular Model 40 product line had been introduced. However, Teletype custom designed semiconductor parts were in very short supply, and the TTY silicon manufacturing process was in trouble. This is the story of how we rose to the situation, fixed the problems, and continued our development of superb semiconductor technology targeted at Teletype product needs. Team Teletype, a family-style company-wide phenomenon, could be proud of their collective achievements. It is a bit of a shame that we were dissolved in our finer hours, by forces well beyond our control. It was not for want of commitment or ability that Teletype sank from sight. They were a fine group! This is my remembrance of the era.

Book Description
What can you do with a degree in architecture? Where might it take you? What kind of challenges could you address? Architects After Architecture reframes architecture as a uniquely versatile way of acting on the world, far beyond that of designing buildings. In this volume, we meet forty practitioners through profiles, case studies, and interviews, who have used their architectural training in new and resourceful ways to tackle the climate crisis, work with refugees, advocate for diversity, start tech companies, become leading museum curators, tackle homelessness, draft public policy, become developers, design videogames, shape public discourse, and much more. Together, they describe a future of architecture that is diverse and engaged, expanding the limits of the discipline, and offering new paths forward in times of crisis. The Mess That We Made
Author: Michelle Lord
Publisher: Flashlight Press
ISBN: 1947277162
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 40
Book Description
The Mess That We Made explores the environmental impact of trash and plastic on the ocean and marine life, and it inspires kids to do their part to combat pollution. Simple, rhythmic wording builds to a crescendo ("This is the mess that we made. These are the fish that swim in the mess that we made.") and the vibrant digital artwork captures the disaster that is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Children can imagine themselves as one of the four multi-ethnic occupants of the little boat surrounded by swirling plastic in the middle of the ocean, witnessing the cycle of destruction and the harm it causes to plants, animals, and humans. The first half of the book portrays the growing magnitude of the issue, and the second half rallies children and adults to make the necessary changes to save our oceans. Facts about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, ocean pollution, and how kids can help are included in the back matter.

Veterans
Author: Sasha Maslov
Publisher: Chronicle Books
ISBN: 1616896132
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 146
Book Description
Ichiro Sudan trained to be a kamikaze. Roscoe Brown was a commander in the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American military aviators. Charin Singh, a farmer from Delhi, spent seven years as a Japanese prisoner of war and was not sent home until four years after the war ended. Uli John lost an arm serving in the German army but ultimately befriended former enemy soldiers as part of a network of veterans—"people who fought in the war and know what war really means." These are some of the faces and stories in the remarkable Veterans, the outcome of a worldwide project by Sasha Maslov to interview and photograph the last surviving combatants from World War II. Soldiers, support staff, and resistance fighters candidly discuss wartime experiences and their lifelong effects in this unforgettable, intimate record of the end of a cataclysmic chapter in world history and tribute to the members of an indomitable generation. Veterans is also a meditation on memory, human struggle, and the passage of time.
