Excerpt from Water-Works of Canada The object of the present report is to present in a form readily available for reference, the principal physical data respecting the water-works systems now in existence in the Dominion of Canada. Pains have been taken to make the information herein tabulated as accurate as possible. The method employed in collecting it may be described briefly. The first step was to send out the following circular letter to all cities, towns and villages in the Dominion: "The Commission of Conservation is collecting information respecting water supply in Canada and is desirous of enlisting your aid in the work. Will you kindly send a description of the water supply of your town or city, including therein full information along the lines suggested by the questions below? Your thorough familiarity with your plant will doubtless enable you to furnish us with many interesting details that cannot be covered by a set of arbitrary questions such as is here appended. (1) Name of city or town (2) Population (3) Is plant privately or municipally owned?
