Book Description
Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. No allies to call on. I'm Ava Locke. I have three dozen problems, but remaining the anonymous champion of Midnight's human and demon fighting ring wasn't one of them--until tonight, when a change in the rules pitted me against a fellow demon Hunter, and I lost. Badly. Without the champion title masking my identity, my location is now a blinking neon sign beckoning the demon who slaughtered my entire team not long ago. This time, he's leaving a new wave of victims on his path to me. But since my demon-fighting guild thinks I bargained for my life when the rest of my team was murdered, I'm fresh out of allies-except for the Hunter I fought in Midnight's ring. For some reason, Mr. Tall-Dark-And-Handsome is on my side, despite clearly having a few skeletons in his own closet. But I'm not choosy because I can't do this alone. Not if I want any chance of stopping this demon from taking more innocent lives. And saving my own. Scroll up and grab your copy today of this urban fantasy adventure with magik, demons, and a kick-ass heroine who never gives up. The Deadly Trades Series is now complete.

Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 207

Book Description
Venom brings readers face to face with some of the most dangerous creatures on the planet, including jellyfish, snakes, and wasps, as it uncovers the story of venom. The book explores how venom is used for predation, defense, competition, and communication by an incredible diversity of species. It examines the unique methods that these species have evolved to create and deliver their deadly toxins. The book traces venom back to its origin in early jellyfish and sea anemones, and reveals how venoms have evolved dozens of times independently all across the animal kingdom since that time. And finally, it examines the relationships between these dangerous creatures and humans. Humans have not only learned to live with them, but also to benefit from them: scientists increasingly are harnessing the power of venom to create new drugs, treatments, and anti-venoms.

Stinging Insect Allergy

Stinging Insect Allergy PDF Author: Theodore M. Freeman
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319461923
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 319

Book Description
This comprehensive book thoroughly covers the field of stinging insect allergy; addressing all clinical aspects, including diagnosis and therapeutic recommendations. Stinging Insect Allergy: A Clinician’s Guide begins with a look into the entomologic aspects of Hymenoptera insects (bees, vespids, wasps and ants), which cause nearly all the IgE mediated reactions due to insects. Further chapters single out and examine the unique aspects of common Hymenoptera species, such as bees and fire ants, in rich detail. Later chapters clinically review what is known about non-Hymenoptera biting insects, such as mosquitoes. In addition, multiple chapters address the overlap of Hymenoptera allergy as practiced in North America and Europe, as well as other sciences. Final chapters cover the impact ecology is having on insect allergy; and the impact insect allergy is having on other areas of medicine, such as mast cell disorders. Stinging Insect Allergy: A Clinician’s Guide is an ideal resource for medical students, residents, allergists, and general practitioners alike, and also serves as an important reference text for any practitioner of allergy and immunology who desires a complete picture of Hymenoptera and non-Hymenoptera insect allergy.

Allergic Diseases

Allergic Diseases PDF Author: Phil Lieberman
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1592590071
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 470

Book Description
It hardly seems that three years have passed since the publication of the first edition of Allergic Diseases: Diagnosis and Treatment. We are gratified that it was enough of a success to warrant the second edition. As with the first, this edition is intended for the "front-line" physician who cares for the allergic patient. We have tried, once again, to make it as "user friendly" and clinically oriented as possible. Our approach to the principles of pathophysiology is intended to allow them to be easily applied to the rationale for therapy. The major intent therefore is still to help the primary care physician deal with the day-to-day management of the allergic patient. The arrangement of this text is similar to that of the first edition, with the major emphasis being on common allergic diseases and the pharmacologic tools we use to control them. To this end two new chapters have been added, one on antihistamines and the other on antileukotrienes. In addition, a new chapter has been added to help the physician deal with the child who experiences recurrent respiratory tract infections. Many of the authors, because of the superb job they did with their first contributions, have been asked for an encore. However, to keep our approach fresh, some of these authors have been asked to write different chapters, and new contributors have been solicited.
