Daniel], Jr. This year, the management of our City will be almost com pletely in the hands of our City Manager. He has had nine months in which to become thoroughly familiar with his job. The Manager form of government has been given a tremendous vote of confidence. It would, therefore, seem that the place of the Mayor and Council is purely secondary. There has been much talk of this year's appointments by the Council. There will be some changes because the present incum bent-s have requested replacement, others because it was felt that the change was necessary for the welfare of the City. Finally, some will go because'they were given their positions origin-ally as loyal party workers. Since their appointment there has been a change of party control. During the past year, they continued party workers as distinguished from party members, _ and for this reason, we believe they should go. I have been accused of being ambitious! It is true! I have been ambitious to work for my city so that some may say in years to come he made it a happier place to live in, he made it prettier to look at, more attractive in every way, the city that he had the honor and the pleasure of serving and directing. It is certainly not a bad ambition in my opinion and it is not a disgrace to have worked fifteen years for you and my city, even if I have sometimes forgotten to work for myself.
