Book Description
This is study on tool steel pacification and heat-treatment for all type of wear resistance steel and specially our D3 steel. Supported with value review. This research “theoretical and experimental” in Effect of Heat-treatment “hardening temperature, tempering temperature, and cooling rate“ in the Mechanical property “Hardness”, and Microstructure transformation on Tool Steel, all type of wear resistance steel, and specially D3 steel. The research study heat-treatment for two pieces of D3 die steel "Working at cone pulleys for nail manufacture" to modify there mechanical properties. The classification its type, properties and set on condition effect on it was discussed. Two set of experiments were done one to determine the effect of austenitization temperature and tempering temperature on the mechanical properties "hardness" and another "the basic one" to discuses improving its mechanical properties from view of microstructure transformations "type, amount, and properties" for each heat-treatment stage. This study was APPROVED as my BS graduate project from Metallurgy Engineering Collage, Cairo University 2001, and published after addition in experimental review at 2018.

Book Description
In a few short years, this has become the established reference for tool makers, heat treaters, and engineers seeking step-by-step recipes for properly heat treating a wide range of tool steels, plus practical information about machinability, shock resistance, wear, and extending tool life. Now, the completely revised and expanded Second Edition of the best selling Heat Treatment, Selection, and Application of Tool Steels is available. It has been extensively updated and includes the following significant new additions: an entirely new chapter on the popular powdered tool steel CPM 10V; a thorough new section on carburizing thoroughly describes the process and its benefits; the section on cryogenic treatment has been completely rewritten to describe the theory and process; and a comprehensive glossary of related terms has been added. As in the first edition, valuable tables of properties, attributed, qualities, and shortcomings of popular tool steels are also included.

Heat-treatment of Steel

Heat-treatment of Steel PDF Author: Erik Oberg

Book Description
Amply illustrated and deeply detailed, this classic guide details the creation of grades of steel via heat treatments. It offers fascinating insight into metal manufacturing processes. Since this guidebook was published in 1914, it carries a certain historic value; at the time, the United States economy was undergoing industrialization. Steel was in high demand, and the technology behind its manufacture was improved upon greatly. The metal's importance could not be understated; the expanding rail networks, new multistory constructions, plus tools and factory machines all required huge quantities of quality metal. As we learn, steel is not a simple product: various grades must be achieved via subtle variations in the heat and techniques applied during its manufacture. To articulate his points, the author appends over ninety charts and diagrams of equipment. Together these show how the furnaces work, and how the hardness of the metal is varied to meet strict specifications. Certain intense processes receive their own chapter, such as steel for machine tools and the use of the electric furnace, plus alloys and the testing of the finished products. For its breadth of detail and superb understanding, Erik Oberg's work remains readable over a century since its original publication.
