Lord Teach Us To Labor In Prayer

Lord Teach Us To Labor In Prayer PDF Author: Patricia Lott

ISBN: 9781088256114

Pages : 0

Book Description
Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God and a powerful tool to advance His kingdom. However, not all prayers are the same. Some prayers require more intensity, focus, and strategy than others. These are the prayers that we call laboring in prayer. In this book, I will teach how to labor in prayer effectively and strategically, following the examples of biblical heroes who prayed with authority and fervor. David was a man after God's own heart who knew how to pray strategically. He faced many enemies and challenges in his life, but he always trusted God and sought His guidance. He also had a well-planned attack when he faced Goliath, the giant who defied the armies of Israel. He used his sling and a stone to hit Goliath's weak spot and bring him down. I will show you how we can pray strategically like David, using God's word as our weapon and targeting the enemy's vulnerabilities. Epaphras was a faithful servant of God who planted the church in Colossae and later joined Paul in prison. He prayed earnestly for the Colossian church, especially that they may stand perfect and complete in God's will. He also wrestled in prayer for them, indicating a strong opposition from the enemy. He was not just praying casually or routinely, but fervently and passionately. We too can pray fervently like Epaphras, using God's will as our goal and overcoming the enemy's resistance. When we labor in prayer, we are not just praying randomly or blindly. We are praying intelligently, with divine insight and direction from God. We are also praying with skill and precision, like a skilled player who can catch or block the enemy's missiles before they reach their targets. We are not ignorant of the enemy's schemes, but we are aware and alert to his attacks. We are also not afraid or intimidated by his threats, but we are confident and courageous in God's power. We can pray intelligently like a skilled player, using God's wisdom as our guide and His power as our strength. I am delighted that you have chosen to embark on this wonderful journey with me, as we explore this next level of prayer together. It is a glorious adventure for those who are seasoned in prayer or eager to grow in it. I believe that as we learn to labor in prayer effectively and strategically, we will see amazing results in our lives and in the lives of others. We will also experience more intimacy with God and more joy in His presence.

Book Description
Millions of women have felt the power of birth, and countless women long for it. But for too many, birth can seem like a purely clinical experience — something to get through as quickly as possible in order to get on with the joys of being a mother. In Made for This, author Mary Haseltine draws on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body to show that birth is an essential part of who God created women to be, body and soul. With real-life stories from many moms and practical tips — including preparing for birth, making informed choices, helping fathers embrace their role in the birth room, and encountering the work of labor — this book is an indispensable guide for navigating the physical and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and birth. Expectant mothers will find the tools they need to approach birth as a gift, and to invite God into the experience. About the Author Mary Haseltine is a theology graduate and a certified birth doula and childbirth educator. With a passion for building a culture of life through the teachings of the Theology of the Body, she works to bring an awareness and practice of the teachings of the Church into the realm of childbirth, mothering, and pregnancy loss. Pray, Like a Woman in Labor

Pray, Like a Woman in Labor PDF Author: Raynna Myers
Publisher: Blurb
ISBN: 9781389964961
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 132

Book Description
A written collection of prayers seeking wisdom and vision to be faithful in the work of serving and living an awake, set apart life. It is a written and photographic journey, based on the prayer Jesus taught his disciples with space each day for personal journaling. As a mom to six the author wrote this short but practical book from the trenches--with mothers in mind, and the intention that it will be a source of strength and tool for anyone who nurtures and leads in varied positions in life, physical and spiritual mothers alike. Said to be an immediate and enduring book on the nightstand returned to for strength and courage often. This book is a real, honest, and vulnerable companion to the immense and valuable work of motherhood. In the quiet (and not so quiet), deep places in us call out to the deep of God. We often call it anxiety or fear, but it is miracle too. A miracle of labor and birth, of spirit and truth. He invites us into this work with Him. Like a woman in labor whose pain is not pointless, our pain is an invitation that beckons us to experience the very presence of God. We were created for this communion. The difference between the Kindle version and printed book is the space after each day's prayer for personal journaling in the printed book, so you can make it your own. It's time to relax.

Work Pray Code

Work Pray Code PDF Author: Carolyn Chen
Publisher: Princeton University Press
ISBN: 0691220883
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 272

Book Description
How tech giants are reshaping spirituality to serve their religion of peak productivity Silicon Valley is known for its lavish perks, intense work culture, and spiritual gurus. Work Pray Code explores how tech companies are bringing religion into the workplace in ways that are replacing traditional places of worship, blurring the line between work and religion and transforming the very nature of spiritual experience in modern life. Over the past forty years, highly skilled workers have been devoting more time and energy to their jobs than ever before. They are also leaving churches, synagogues, and temples in droves—but they have not abandoned religion. Carolyn Chen spent more than five years in Silicon Valley, conducting a wealth of in-depth interviews and gaining unprecedented access to the best and brightest of the tech world. The result is a penetrating account of how work now satisfies workers’ needs for belonging, identity, purpose, and transcendence that religion once met. Chen argues that tech firms are offering spiritual care such as Buddhist-inspired mindfulness practices to make their employees more productive, but that our religious traditions, communities, and public sphere are paying the price. We all want our jobs to be meaningful and fulfilling. Work Pray Code reveals what can happen when work becomes religion, and when the workplace becomes the institution that shapes our souls.

She Who Prays

She Who Prays PDF Author: Patricia Harris-Watkins
Publisher: Church Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 0819225959
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 225

Book Description
A Prayer book designed to be used by individual women, as well as by those who are leading group prayer services. For nearly two millennia, Christian women have learned to pray in the language of other people's souls. From worshiping God as father to envisioning a holy life as a military campaign, they've been taught to approach the Divine with the hearts and minds of men. She Who Prays: A Woman's Interfaith Prayer Book offers women a new way to pray. It draws on feminine images of God, as well as the language and experience of women, to help women tap into their own rich and unique spirituality. With material from new translations of ancient Christian hymns and prayers, as well as original prayers in the Christian and other faith traditions, She Who Prays will help women speak to God in their own voices. Arranged in roughly the same format as the Book of Common Prayer, She Who Prays contains a seven-day cycle of daily prayer services, prayers for special occasions, and a woman-oriented liturgical calendar that honors the lives of women of all faiths. The book also contains four rituals marking such themes as healing, reconciliation, and new beginnings, and a prayer to be used while walking a labyrinth. An appendix provides information on world religions and instructions for group services.
