Handbook of Thermoplastic Elastomers

Handbook of Thermoplastic Elastomers PDF Author: Jiri George Drobny
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323221688
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 465

Book Description
Handbook of Thermoplastic Elastomers, Second Edition presents a comprehensive working knowledge of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), providing an essential introduction for those learning the basics, but also detailed engineering data and best practice guidance for those already involved in polymerization, processing, and part manufacture. TPEs use short, cost-effective production cycles, with reduced energy consumption compared to other polymers, and are used in a range of industries including automotive, medical, construction and many more. This handbook provides all the practical information engineers need to successfully utilize this material group in their products, as well as the required knowledge to thoroughly ground themselves in the fundamental chemistry of TPEs. The data tables included in this book assist engineers and scientists in both selecting and processing the materials for a given product or application. In the second edition of this handbook, all chapters have been reviewed and updated. New polymers and applications have been added — particularly in the growing automotive and medical fields — and changes in chemistry and processing technology are covered. Provides essential knowledge of the chemistry, processing, properties, and applications for both new and established technical professionals in any industry utilizing TPEs Datasheets provide "at-a-glance" processing and technical information for a wide range of commercial TPEs and compounds, saving readers the need to contact suppliers Includes data on additional materials and applications, particularly in automotive and medical industries

Developments in Thermoplastic Elastomers

Developments in Thermoplastic Elastomers PDF Author: K. E. Kear
Publisher: iSmithers Rapra Publishing
ISBN: 9781859574331
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 158

Book Description
Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) have the elastic behaviour of rubber and the processability of thermoplastics. The Freedonia Group has forecast that demand will expand by 6.4% per year to around 2.15 million tons in 2006. There is potential for these new, exciting materials to expand into the much larger thermoset rubber markets. This review includes comparisons between the two material types. There are three major types of TPE: block copolymers, rubber/plastic blends and dynamically vulcanised rubber/plastic alloys known as thermoplastic vulcanisates. The chemistry of these materials and how.

Infrared Spectra of Rubbers, Plastics and Thermoplastic Elastomers

Infrared Spectra of Rubbers, Plastics and Thermoplastic Elastomers PDF Author: Yvonne Davies
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110644215
Category : Science
Languages : en

New class of thermoplastic elastomer. Blend of HDPE and reclaimed rubber

New class of thermoplastic elastomer. Blend of HDPE and reclaimed rubber PDF Author: Prof. Mehul Patel
Publisher: GRIN Verlag
ISBN: 3668610843
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 97

Book Description
Project Report from the year 2014 in the subject Chemistry - Macromolecular Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, grade: AB, , language: English, abstract: In this research work TPE has been constructed by using High density polyethylene (HDPE) and Whole tire reclaimed rubber (RR). Optimized ratio of 50:50 HDPE: RR has been employed for the survey. Gamma irradiation and conventional chemical crosslinking with crosslinking coagent method were used to form a product. Results for gamma irradiation at 200KGy have been established for the best attributes.Waste management is an important issue of the 21st century. In India out of total waste generated every day; nearly 12-15% consists of polymeric waste. In this waste rubber content huge amount of itself due to growing automobile sector. It is hard to manage rubber waste as it’s not biodegradable and may be harmful to human organism. So the safe method is to reuse it as it is or by reclamation. Incorporation of this waste in the polymeric blends to form a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is the best way to utilize rubber waste. Thermoplastic materials like PE, PP, and PVC are cheap and widely available material to utilize for such determinations. The aim of project was to improve the overall properties of HDPE/ Reclaimed Rubber blend system and form a good example of new class of TPE. Blend of HD and reclaimed rubber shows drastic enhancement in properties which can be used in automobile and other sectors.
