Book Description
How to create great youth advertising campaigns in an environment where the medium is no longer the message You can‘t bottle it, you can‘t Google it. The only way for brands to connect with the Internet-savvy, networked youth of today is to get involved with the cultures and subcultures that make up their world. Through eighty-eight topics, King Adz shares his unique insights into the lives of young people around the globe. From North America, Brazil, and Europe to Russia, China, India, Hong Kong, South Africa, and beyond, his research has taken him to skate parks, clubs, music festivals, and street art events. His focus is on sixteen- to twenty-four-year-olds, but the trends that originate with this age group reverberate through a far wider demographic. Youth Ministry in a Technological Age

Youth Ministry in a Technological Age PDF Author: Peggy Kendall; Claire Smith; Tim Ke
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1462899331
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 89

Book Description
The many and continual advances in technology can be both exciting and daunting; exciting because of the multitude of opportunities at our grasp yet daunting when faced with the prospect of keeping up with and/or affording them. This holds true in youth ministry where, as youth workers, we serve a population that seems to be innately in tune with technology and what it offers. We’re all technological users but much of our adult expertise pales before the intuitive use of our students. What do we do? Youth Ministry in a Technological Age seeks to offer a window into understanding and using technology in youth ministry that is grounded theologically. In this book, researchers and people involved in youth ministry share insights and make recommendations concerning how we approach and use technology in youth ministry, always recognizing our need to be faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Uncivil Youth

Uncivil Youth PDF Author: Soo Ah Kwon
Publisher: Duke University Press
ISBN: 0822399091
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 182

Book Description
In Uncivil Youth, Soo Ah Kwon explores youth of color activism as linked to the making of democratic citizen-subjects. Focusing attention on the relations of power that inform the social and political practices of youth of color, Kwon examines how after-school and community-based programs are often mobilized to prevent potentially "at-risk" youth from turning to "juvenile delinquency" and crime. These sorts of strategic interventions seek to mold young people to become self-empowered and responsible citizens. Theorizing this mode of youth governance as "affirmative governmentality," Kwon investigates the political conditions that both enable youth of color to achieve meaningful change and limit their ability to do so given the entrenchment of nonprofits in the logic of a neoliberal state. She draws on several years of ethnographic research with an Oakland-based, panethnic youth organization that promotes grassroots activism among its second-generation Asian and Pacific Islander members (ages fourteen to eighteen). While analyzing the contradictions of the youth organizing movement, Kwon documents the genuine contributions to social change made by the young people with whom she worked in an era of increased youth criminalization and anti-immigrant legislation.
