Book Description
This thesis seeks to establish the link between the structure (in a topological sense) of porous space and charged particle dynamics in porous matter, specifically in constituent elements of sustainable building materials such as clay, cement and soil. The work done is a combination of experimental research and modelling of analysed data using advanced and expanded network models to model pore structure and generalized conductivity model. The main outcome of this doctoral thesis is the demonstration that there is a correlation between the large scale structure of the pore space and the properties of the motion of charged particles through the pore space. This was achieved by conducting two experiments: the structure of pore space of selected porous materials (soil samples, clays, cements, clay-cement mixtures) was investigated using state-of-the-art X-ray computed microtomography, while the dynamics of charged particles in the samples was probed using low-frequency dielectric spectroscopy. The research done and described in the thesis is directed towards the advancement of understanding the transport phenomena and the structure of porous media which is of paramount importance for solving problems in building physics dealing with moist transport in building's envelope, the building-ground interaction, and in transport of contaminants in the vicinity of the repositories where the transfer of moist through soil can be the source of contamination.

Book Description
This book provides a comprehensive and concise description of most important aspects of experimental and theoretical investigations of porous materials and powders, with the use and application of these materials in different fields of science, technology, national economy and environment. It allows the reader to understand the basic regularities of heat and mass transfer and adsorption occurring in qualitatively different porous materials and products, and allows the reader to optimize the functional properties of porous and powdered products and materials. Written in an straightforward and transparent manner, this book is accessible to both experts and those without specialist knowledge, and it is further elucidated by drawings, schemes and photographs. Porous materials and powders with different pore sizes are used in many areas of industry, geology, agriculture and science. These areas include (i) a variety of devices and supplies; (ii) thermal insulation and building materials; (iii) oil-bearing geological, gas-bearing and water-bearing rocks; and (iv) biological objects. Structural Properties of Porous Materials and Powders Used in Different Fields of Science and Technology is intended for a wide-ranging audience specializing in different fields of science and engineering including engineers, geologists, geophysicists, oil and gas producers, agronomists, physiologists, pharmacists, researchers, teachers and students.

Book Description
This book is intended for a wide readership and mostly for specialists - builders, as well as graduate and undergraduate students of engineering sciences in universities. In this book the Authors outline the general statement of structural theory and consider on its basis the interrelations of structure and properties of major groups of building materials. By generalizing the data of numerous studies, the Authors refer to and analyze the results obtained by them in the Pridneprovsk Academy of Construction and Architecture and the National University of Water Management and Environmental Sciences (Ukraine).
