Gabriel Maupin was born in Gargeau, Loiret, France. He married Marie Hersent and immigrated to Virginia in 1700. They had five children. Their son Daniel was born March 25, 1700. He married Margaret Via (1701-1789) and they had ten children. Traces their descendants through each of their nine children who married.
