At the beginning of 1906 there were in the whole of Australia head of cattle, the value of which was computed at The eastern States have been quick during recent years to benefit by the development of the frozen-meat trade. Millions of acres in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and other parts are still waiting to be utilized in the spread of the cattle trade. The extensive runs in Queensland ao commodate the lar est herds, whilst Victoria and the New Sout Wales river and coastal districts adapt themselves more particularly to dairying.
