The two articles are revised versions of papers presented at the end of May 2004 to a Zimbabwe Conference at the Nordic Africa Institute, which was co-organized by the project "Liberation and Democracy in Southern Africa" (LiDeSA). This volume explores the challenges and solutions experienced within Zimbabwe’s economic and social spheres, with particular reference to the “crisis years” (2000–2008) and the “promising turn” (2009–2012).
