Accuracy is absolutely essential, as the margin of profit is so small at the best, that a slight omission or over sight may cause heavy losses. The above remarks are equally applicable if accuracy is not attained in dealing with weights and measures. Many tables have been produced by the leading manufacturers which treat upon weights and measures of the various mate rials entering into car construction. Some of these tables differ widely in the results shown for the same material, therefore, a great deal of care has been exercised by the writer in selecting and reducing to a concise form the various tables which are included in this work.
