With reports of successful implementation, many large organizations know and believe the benefits of the quality management system. As a result, these businesses have become highly competitive locally and internationally. On the other hand, small and medium enterprises are minor organizations that implement Total quality management. They do not realize that the implementation of Total Quality Management is essential for the growth and success of the company. Furthermore, due mainly to their small size, small businesses find it more challenging to compete in all areas such as finance, technology, management, and competencies. The purpose of this research is to determine the status of implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Bustos, Bulacan. Specifically, choosing how implementing a quality management system would affect the profitability, sales growth, customers ' satisfaction, and market share of small and medium-sized enterprises. The researchers used a qualitative approach and a survey technique to collect data. The findings show that implementing Total Quality Management in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises has improved the performance and enhanced the growth of SMEs in Bustos, Bulacan. The study also supports the claim that quality management methods promote organizational performance in large and small businesses.

The opening study in Total Quality Management (TQM): Concepts, Implementation and Applications investigates the quality of administrative services and student satisfactionan important dimension of Total Quality Managementprovided in higher education institutions. A questionnaire survey, developed using the well-known service quality model SERVQUAL, was used to explore its five dimensions, namely: reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness. Following this, the authors empirically examine the relationship between Total Quality Management-SMEs performance and organizational culture under a moderation model in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The research utilizes partial least squares to examine the moderating effect of organizational culture on the association between Total Quality Management and SMEs performance. Lastly, the authors develop a model and empirically test it to assess the impact of Total Quality Management on incremental and radical innovation and customer satisfaction, finding that Total Quality Management is positively linked to incremental and radical innovation, whereas no association was found for radical innovation and customer satisfaction.

In a developing country like India, the entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises face a large number of problems related to managerial skills and adequate resources for further expansion of their business. Presently, implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) practices is another significant obstacle faced by the Indian entrepreneurs due to tough competition in the national and international markets on account of globalization. Good quality management is the need of the hour as it improves the competitiveness, effectiveness and flexibility of the organization. In this paper, an attempt has been made to explore the problems faced by the entrepreneurs of small and medium enterprises in the implementation of TQM practices. One-way ANOVA has been used to find the significant difference between the demographical variables of the entrepreneurs and impeding factors in the implementation of TQM in small and medium enterprises on a sample of 150 entrepreneurs collected from four states of North India. The findings reveal that the entrepreneurs in lower age group face these problems relatively more than the entrepreneurs in higher age group. Further, entrepreneurs having education up to technical level face these problems relatively less as compared to entrepreneurs who have education up to a lower level.

Big players in major industries, such as Ford and Siemens, have already aligned their business and production processes to this holistic management concept. Over the past three decades there are more medium-sized companies applying TQM principles to their business. Quality has been important in helping companies gaining a competitive edge in globalized markets. TQM with its extensive set of methods aims to embed quality awareness among all departments of a company where work affects the quality of the products. There are thousands of articles and books written on how large and medium sized companies have successfully implemented of TQM. An extensive literature review and interviews of experts and owners of very small businesses (micro-businesses) indicate that this is the only industry where TQM systems have not yet been implemented. Although micro-businesses are pressured by their customers to achieve high levels of quality in their products, there is not enough research that addresses the issues of implementing TQM practices for micro-businesses. Scientific literature does not provide answers to crucial questions such as: - What methods of quality management are currently being in use in micro-businesses? - How could a TQM system be tailored to meet the needs in a micro-business environment? This thesis is part of a large-scale field study that recently has been launched by the Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ. The study aims to reveal answers to the questions listed above. This thesis forms the foundation for the subsequent field study.
