In the mean time it would 11 a Volume of it self, to give an Account oi the Barbarities, Cruelties, and inhuman Practices of the Muscovite Troops on the poor Inhabitants of the open Country of Pomerania: Nor were the Danes or Saxons either much behind them; tho' upon a People of the same Religion as themselves, and not much Strangers to them in Language, Custom and Nation, in which both those Nations (V/f.J of Danes and Saxons forgot the Humanity, Courtefy, and Civility shewn their People, when, his Swedifo Majesty was actually Master .of their Country, .and might have treated them like conquer'd Enemies; whereas they were used as has been shew'd, with Compassion, with capitulated Measures, with a Christian Modesty, and with a Humanity, which was never return'd by their Enemies. . This whole Year was spent in Preparation for the Siege of Siraelsund; the Artillery was to be brought by Sea from Denmark, -.many a Month they likewise talk'd of its being just at Hand; but it never arriv'd till November, when they found it was too late to pretend to besiege the Place, and so its coming signified little to them. Then they pre-r tended to block it up; but the blocking up a Town by Land is such a Jest, when it lies open, to the Sea, and especially as this City did, which had the Isle of Rugen to supply then* with all Necessaries, that it was a Thing only to be laught at.
