The Government of Saskatchewan First Nation and Métis Consultation Policy Framework (Consultation Policy Framework) presents the process Government will use to fulfill its obligation to consult with First Nations and Métis communities on decisions or actions that may impact Treaty or Aboriginal rights, for use by Government ministries, agencies, Crown corporations, First Nations, Métis and proponents. Canada’s Supreme Court has established a new legal framework requiring governments to consult with Aboriginal peoples when contemplating actions that may affect their rights.
