Book Description
I didn’t want to fall in love with the prince. He’s a high elf, rich and handsome, and…well, there are rumors he dabbles in dark magic. I’m half-goblin and I know he’d never choose me as his bride in the first place. I just wanted my wicked stepsisters to see him dancing with me before I run away and leave this city forever, to start a new life. But it seems my goblin godmother had other plans. The spell she cast upon me? The one she told me would make the prince want to “dance" with me? The moment he touches me, I feel desire like I’ve never imagined. And I can tell he feels the same. I’m not sure this is the sort of dance I had in mind. We’re drawn together by magic—but can magic forge the bonds of true love? And if it did…would be stepmother ever let me find happiness? My goblin godmother isn’t the only one with plans. It seems my stepmother is willing to lie, steal, and even kill to keep me from a happily ever after. But goblins are known for making trouble, and I’m ready for revenge. The Goblin Cinderella is a standalone fairy tale retelling for those who like an unabashedly adorable happily ever after with a side of serious steaminess! (And a cameo or two by Beauty and her Goblin King!)

Book Description
The Princess and the Goblin and its sequel quietly suggest in every incident ideas of courage and honor. Both the books start out as normal fairy tales, but slowly become stranger, and they contain layers of symbolism similar to that of Lewis Carroll's work. Eight-year-old Princess Irene lives a lonely life in a castle in a wild, desolate, mountainous kingdom, with only her nursemaid "Lootie" for company. Her father the king is normally absent, and her mother is dead. Unknown to her, the nearby mines are inhabited by a race of goblins, long banished from the kingdom and now anxious to take revenge on their human neighbors. One rainy day, the princess explores the castle and discovers a beautiful, mysterious lady, who identifies herself as Irene's namesake and great-great-grandmother. The adventure continues with Princess Irene and Curdie a year or two older. They must overthrow a set of corrupt ministers who are poisoning Irene's father, the king. Irene's grandmother also reappears and gives Curdie a strange gift. A monster called Lina aids his quest. George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors including W. H. Auden, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Walter de la Mare, E. Nesbit and Madeleine L'Engle. G. K. Chesterton cited The Princess and the Goblin as a book that had "made a difference to my whole existence".

"Seek that your sons and your daughters may dream dreams and see visions. Seek that they may see true visions and dream noble dreams!" George MacDonald's magical tale of young Princess Irene finding the strength to take on the world has proven to be one of the most enduring and influential of the great nineteenth century children's classics. Stuart Paterson's acclaimed stage version is packed with fun and adventure, while retaining the depth and visionary power of the original book. Guarded day and night, and made frightened of the sinister goblins who lurk under The Great Mountain, Princess Irene fears she may never be brave enough to live outside the high walls of her father's palace. Yet, guided by her mysterious old great-grandmother who lives in the attic, and protected by a fearless miner-boy and a fierce young dragon, she finds both freedom and romance. A rich and magical play for the whole family.

‘Climo and Heller conflate several Korean variants of Cinderella to offer up the story of Pear Blossom, a lovely girl who is sorely mistreated by her nasty stepmother and stepsister.… At once comfortingly familiar and intriguingly exotic, the text is especially noteworthy for its instructive but unobtrusive incorporation of Korean words.’—Publishers Weekly. ‘Heller’s paintings are exotically lush and colorful as well as engaging.… An agreeable retelling of the Cinderella story.’ —BL. Book Description
“You want to learn magic, dearie? I will teach you my ways…if you can survive it…" All I've ever dreamed of is to learn the ways of magic, but the village witch casts me off because I can’t read. I’m just a poor miller’s daughter, but the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen finds me weeping by the side of the road, and takes pity on me. He gives me my first kiss and a gold coin, and tells me that if I can hang onto the gold coin for one year, he’ll return and make my dreams come true. Well, how on earth is a girl supposed to hang onto a gold coin when she’s freezing and hungry? Now the handsome man has returned and as it turns out, he’s a king—and my father tells him I can spin straw into gold, since…I might have told a few wild stories about where that damn coin came from. Now I’m locked in a tower by a king who knows I’m a liar who spent his coin, and if I can’t spin the straw into gold, I’ll face his punishment. He’s more of a jerk than I thought, but he’s the king, so what am I to do? Enter the Trickster Mage—a ragged, wild goblin sorcerer. He’ll teach me to spin the straw into gold but in exchange he asks for the most wicked bargain I can imagine—and I will learn the secrets of the most exquisite and horrible patience. Caught between these two men, I learn more than I ever imagined—and more than the goblin sorcerer ever imagined as well, because as we grow closer, I begin to see the man behind the Trickster Mage—and grow closer to his true name. The Goblin’s Curse is a steamy fairy tale retelling of Rumpelstiltskin for those who like an adorable happily ever after fairy tale romance.

Book Description
One of the most successful and beloved of Victorian fairy tales, George Macdonald's The Princess and the Goblin tells the story of young Princess Irene and her friend Curdie, who must outwit the threatening goblins who live in caves beneath her mountain home. From the get-go the narrator explains that to be a princess means to be a proper girl, or prince in the case of a boy. He basically equates royal titles as meaning someone is of good character. The narrator makes a point of noting that some royal princesses are not true princesses due to character flaws. I liked what he was getting at. Anyways, he uses this discussion to begin telling us about Princess Irene. Eight-year-old Princess Irene lives a lonely life in a castle in a wild, desolate, mountainous kingdom, with only her nursemaid, Lootie, for company. Her father, the king, is normally absent, and her mother is dead.
