Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 202: May 1960 Output of food fats during april-september, the second half of the 1959-60 season, will decline seasonally but is expected to be about the same as last year. An increase over last year for cottonseed Oil and a slight increase for butter will make up for the decline in lard. Little change is expected in soybean oil production. During the first half of the current marketing year, production of food fats was 9 percent greater than a year earlier. The gain mainly reflected sharp increases in cottonseed Oil and lard. Domestic disappearance of food fats during the first 6 months of the present marketing year was at a record level, and about 1 percent above a year ago. Increases for margarine and shortening slightly more than Offset de clines in butter, direct use of lard and salad and cooking Oils. As usual, domestic use of food fats will decline seasonally during april-september, but probably will not differ much from last year's level. Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 207: March 1961 Higher food fat prices this year stem from slightly smaller supplies coupled with record export and domestic demand. Carryover stocks next October 1 are expected to be the smallest since 1957, mainly reflecting reduced stocks of soybeans (on an oil equivalent basis) although stocks of edible vegetable oils are likely to be down some from a year earlier. Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 204: September 1960 Early September conditions indicate that the total U. S. Supply of edible fats, oils, and oilseeds during the 1960-61 marketing year begin ning October 1 will be about lu.l billion pounds (oil equivalent of oilseeds), just billion pounds less than the record quantity available during the year just ending. Smaller supplies of lard and possibly fewer soybeans than a year ago are expected to more than offset the small increase in prospect for cottonseed oil and butter. The U. S. Disappearance of food fats is expected to increase with population by over billion pounds. These prospects indicate that the quantity of edible oils, lard, and soy beans available for export in 1960-61, while billion pounds less than last year's availabilities, will be nearly as large as the record bil lion pounds estimated to have actually been shipped abroad in 1959-60. Thus it appears that exportable supplies and export demand will be in close balance in 1960 - 61. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 179: July 24, 1956 Supplies of food fats other than butter in the marketing year beginning on October 1, 1956 will be almost as large as this year's record quantity, according to July 1 indications. Production is expected to be about the same (assuming average growing conditions for soybeans, and cottonseed yields per acre about equal to the average of the past 3 years) but begin ning stocks of edible oils probably will be smaller. Sizable cuts in lard and cottonseed oil output are likely to be offset by record quantities of soybeans for crushing and export. Consumption of food fats per person probably will continue at about the 1955-56 rate. With the population growing, total consumption will be up. This indicates that the quantity of edible oils, lard and soybeans available for export in 1956-57 will be around 15 percent below the huge 1955-56 total of billion pounds but still above any other year. About 2 billion of the 1955-56 total will consist of sales for dollars, including some quanti ties financed by International Cooperation Administration authorizations. The rest is going out under Public Law 1480 programs. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description

Demand through the rest of the crop year will continue strong and some further rise in prices is likely.
