Book Description
Excerpt from The Chestnut Burr, 1922: A Year Book We do not profess to be skilled in the art of book-making. We present this volume to you, regretting that it is no better, but rejoicing that it is no worse. Our work has not been all play. Our muses would not always respond, but we have worked bravely on and this is the result. To the Senior the annual is the mirror of his college career. To the undergraduates and faculty, we hope that it will realize the dream of uniting us as friends. We have brought you all to the same level, and have laughed with you, not at you. No malice is intended; We have charity for all, and in your charity we expect you to believe in our charity, and so laugh with us. Book Description
Excerpt from The Chestnut Burr, 1923, Vol. 10: The Book of the Year Working under the direction of the Dean of Women in Kent are the two house mothers of Moulton and Lowry Halls, the dietitian, and the resident nurse. Together these form the Dean's Council, which meets regularly to con sider all the matters concerning the women residing in the halls. As there are about twice as many women students at Kent State living off campus as on, the Dean's major problem is to get into close touch with the women who board or live at home in Kent, or at home. In nearby towns. To accomplish this purpose, an Off Campus Women's Club has been formed, which has already done much. In November, the Dean of Women gave a tea to all the landladies of Kent who have college women living with them, that they might become better acquainted and might better understand their mutual relationships and responsibilities. During the winter term, the Dean of Women visited the houses in Kent, and made a list of approved rooming places for college women students.
