The Charge Distribution in Nuclei and the Scattering of High Energy Electrons
Electron Scattering From Complex Nuclei V36A
Author: Herbert Uberall
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0323148123
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 496
Book Description
Electron Scattering from Complex Nuclei, Part A covers the historical phases of experimental development in elastic and inelastic electron scattering. This five-chapter text presents the logical development of the underlying theory of electron scattering. After briefly discussing the history of electron scattering from nuclei, this book goes on describing the theory of elastic scattering from a point nucleus, both with Born approximation and the accurate solution of the Dirac equation, as well as the corresponding experiments. The following chapter considers the analysis of nuclear charge distributions experiments using Born cross section and phase-shift methods. A chapter is devoted to the complete elastic and inelastic Born theory. This chapter also deals with the derivation of a theorem on the general form of the electron-nucleus scattering cross section, with an emphasis on the influence of the neglected transverse interaction on the cross section. The last chapter presents the status of elastic scattering along with some topics in muonic atoms that also determine nuclear charge densities. This book will be of great benefit to physicists, researchers, and graduate students who are interested in nuclear structure problems.

The Effect of Two-Body Short Range Correlation Functions
Author: Fadhil Ismail Shrrad AL-Taie
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659805769

Languages : en
Pages : 128
Book Description
The scattering of electrons from nuclei gives the most precise information about nuclear size and charge distribution, and it provides important information about the electromagnetic currents inside the nuclei. Electron scattering can provide a good test for such calculation since it is sensitive to the spatial dependence of the charge and current densities. The electron scattering from the nucleus at high energy gives important information about the nuclear structure. The obtained information from the high energy electron scattering by the nuclei depends on the magnitude of the de Broglie wavelength that is associated with the electron compared with the range of the nuclear forces. When the energy of the incident electron is in the range of 100 MeV and more, the de Broglie wave length will be in the range of the spatial extension of the target nucleus. Thus with these energy, the electron represents a best probe to study the nuclear structure.

Modern Topics in Electron Scattering
Author: Bernard Frois
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9789971509750
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 832
Book Description
This book summarizes the considerable progress recently achieved in the understanding of nucleon and nuclear structure by using high energy electrons as a probe. A collection of papers discusses in detail the new frontiers of this field. Experimental and theoretical articles cover topics such as the structure of the nucleon, nucleon distributions, many-body correlations, non-nucleonic degrees of freedom and few-body systems. This book is an up-to-date introduction to the research planned with continuous beam electron accelerators.

Electron Scattering for Nuclear and Nucleon Structure
Author: John Dirk Walecka
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 9780521780438
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 396
Book Description
The scattering of high-energy electrons from nuclear and nucleon targets essentially provides a microscope for examining the structure of these tiny objects. The best evidence we have on what nuclei and nucleons actually look like comes from electron scattering. This book examines the motivation for electron scattering and develops the theoretical analysis of the process. It discusses our current theoretical understanding of the underlying structure of these systems at appropriate levels of resolution and sophistication, as well as summarising present experimental capabilities. Suitable for advanced undergraduates, graduates and researchers.
