Materials and Structures in Cold Regions

Materials and Structures in Cold Regions PDF Author: Jia-Bao Yan
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0443219311
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 523

Book Description
Materials and Structures in Cold Regions: The Impact of Low Temperatures on Construction Materials and the Structural Behaviour of Structural Members is based on the latest research undertaken at Tianjin University, P.R. China and National University of Singapore. The book provides detailed experimental research on the influences of low temperatures on the mechanical properties of constructional materials and structural behavior of typical structural members at low temperatures, e.g., beams, columns, and walls. The theoretical and numerical models in the book on structural members at low temperatures simplifies and provides guidelines for structural engineers working on cold-region projects. The book blends the fundamental development of concepts with the practical specification of materials and structures at low temperatures. - Provides detailed experimental research on the influence of low temperatures on the mechanical properties of constructional materials, and structural behavior of typical structural members at low temperatures, e.g., beams, columns, and walls - Covers fundamental development of concepts, with the practical specification of materials and structures at low temperatures - Presents the latest research, undertaken at Tianjin University, P.R. Marine Concrete

Marine Concrete PDF Author: A.L. Marshall
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468499661
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 412

Book Description
Concrete is commonly regarded as a mundane, prosaic material whilst the sea is perceived as a fearsome environment, endowed with mystery. Mystery stems from lack of knowledge, and to that extent both concrete and sea have something in common-we fall a long way short of knowing enough about them. Fortunately we have learned enough from our investigations and experiences to be able to set the limits within which we should operate. It is important for the engineer to seek to quantify the effects of the environment on materials and structures so that these can be made safe and adequately durable for their intended economic life. This is especially true for marine structures. Thus the primary purpose of this book is to provide a useful synthesis of the behaviour of concrete and concrete structures in the marine environment. An outline of the content of the book is provided in the latter part of the first chapter and so will not be anticipated here. The chief aim throughout, however, is to work as far as possible within a context of the appropriate governing physical phenomena, giving due consideration to the mathematical relationships between them. Moreover, without intending to be a design manual, an introduction is given to the sources of information which designers are likely to use, as well as to structural achievements. It is hoped that there should emerge an implicit integration between structure and constituent materials and the surrounding environment.

Manual of Numerical Methods in Concrete

Manual of Numerical Methods in Concrete PDF Author: M Y H Bangash
Publisher: Thomas Telford
ISBN: 9780727729460
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 940

Book Description
Manual of numerical methods in concrete aims to present a unified approach for the available mathematical models of concrete, linking them to finite element analysis and to computer programs in which special provisions are made for concrete plasticity, cracking and crushing with and without concrete aggregate interlocking. Creep, temperature, and shrinkage formulations are included and geared to various concrete constitutive models.
