Guide to Stability Design Criteria for Metal Structures

Guide to Stability Design Criteria for Metal Structures PDF Author: Theodore V. Galambos
Publisher: Wiley-Interscience
ISBN:
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 826

Book Description
This Guide, compiled and updated by the Structural Stability Research Council, has long been an indispensable bridge between research and practice. Provides simplified and refined procedures applicable to design and to assessing design limitations, and offers guidance to design specifications, codes, and standards currently applied to the stability of metal structures. Most chapters have been rewritten and three new chapters cover stability theory, box girders, and the application of the finite element method to the solution of stability problems. Illustrated with over 250 figures.

Design Aids for Eurocode 2

Design Aids for Eurocode 2 PDF Author: The Netherlands and Germany, The Concrete Societies of The UK
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1482294923
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 254

Book Description
Eurocode 2 is the key document for future structural design in concrete throughout Europe. To use the Code effectively, structural engineers need a range of aids in the form of flow charts, design charts and simplified procedures. This book provides all of these, and is written with the authority of collaborative work by members of the Concrete Soc

Analysis and Design of Plated Structures

Analysis and Design of Plated Structures PDF Author: N.E. Shanmugam
Publisher: Woodhead Publishing
ISBN: 1845690966
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 517

Book Description
Steel and other types of plated structures are used in a variety of applications from aircrafts to ships and offshore platforms to bridges, power plants and cranes. A key issue in the use of these structures is their stability behaviour under compressive stress. Analysis and design of plated structures reviews the wealth of research in this important area and its implications for design, safety and maintenance. The book considers the various types of buckling that plated structures are likely to encounter. Chapters also review buckling in a range of materials from steel to differing types of composite. The book also discusses the behaviour of differing types of components used in steel-plated structures. These components include steel beams and columns as well as curved, stiffened, corrugated, laminated and other types of plate design. With its distinguished editors and international team of contributors, Analysis and design of plated structures is a useful standard reference for civil engineers involved in the design of plated structures. - Discusses the behaviour of steel and other plated structures when under stress - Extensive coverage of the key research in this important area - Compiled by an international team of distinguished contributors

Design of Plated Structures

Design of Plated Structures PDF Author: Darko Beg
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3433601151
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 257

Book Description
The main aim of this book is to provide practical advice to designers of plated structures for correct and efficient application of EN 1993-1-5 design rules. In chapter 1 the purpose, the scope and the structure of the book is explained. In chapter 2 a rather detailed and commented overview of EN 1993-1-5 design rules is given following the structure of the standard. Shear lag effect as well as plate buckling problems due to direct stresses, shear forces, transverse forces and interactions of these effects are covered. This chapter also includes a reduced stress method and a finite element analysis approach to plate buckling problems. A large number of design examples illustrate the proper application of individual design rules. Chapter 3 and 4 bring two complete design examples on a crane runway and a box-girder bridge.
