Book Description
At 6:03 p.m. on Tuesday, the 25th of August 1970, Alexander Marcel Andre Sebastian Barker Bailiff was born to protect the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, Governor General of Australia, President of International Commission of Jurists, and three hundred and seventy million indigenous people from the Popes. The sooner officials get the Australian Federal Police statement, the sooner they can use it to call a Royal Commission into the negligence of the Chief Justice, so they can argue he was negligent in the Mabo judgement, which is a 4-3 decision. The Mabo judgement is the native title case. So, I have to sue 1,777 police commissioners, directors of public prosecutions, ombudsmen, administrators of Northern Territory governors, governors-general, members of legislative assembly, members of legislative council, members of house of representatives, senators, and senior officers of higher education in Australia. Whilst I am doing this, 250 people apply for restraining orders, and 200 arrests occur. I become friends with the retired Chief Justice of the High Court, Sir Anthony Frank Mason, while he establishes a Hong Kong Final Court of Appeal and becomes a judge for 20 years. I said, "Whilst it is significant the Chief Justice of the High Court has been negligent for 7 years in his written judgements, I think what is more significant is the fact 7 ministers from both the Labour Party and Liberal Party have been significant for 7 years in their administration of violated legislation." I also said that no matter how hard life was, Vanessa Camille Bayliss always protected me, so no matter what I have taken appropriate steps to protect, as that is the right thing to do. Sir Anthony Frank Mason says, "I appreciate you protecting me." I get the Pope's apology to China and the Pope's apology to Oceania and establish the Australian Capital Territory Supreme Court of Appeal 2001 and make a United Nations case.

Deathbird Stories
Author: Harlan Ellison
Publisher: Open Road Media
ISBN: 149760477X
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 366
Book Description
Masterpieces of myth and terror about modern gods from technology to drugs to materialism—“fantasy at its most bizarre and unsettling” (The New York Times). As Earth approaches Armageddon, a man embarks on a quest to confront God in the Hugo Award–winning novelette, “The Deathbird.” In New York City, a brutal act of violence summons a malevolent spirit and a growing congregation of desensitized worshippers in “The Whimper of Whipped Dogs,” an Edgar Award winner influenced by the real-life murder of Queens resident Kitty Genovese in 1964. In “Paingod,” the deity tasked with inflicting pain and suffering on every living being in the universe questions the purpose of its cruel existence. Deathbird Stories collects these and sixteen more provocative tales exploring the futility of faith in a faithless world. A legendary author of speculative fiction whose best-known works include A Boy and His Dog and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream—and whose major awards and nominations number in the dozens, Harlan Ellison strips away convention and hypocrisy and lays bare the human condition in modern society as ancient gods fade and new deities rise to appease the masses—gods of technology, drugs, gambling, materialism—that are as insubstantial as the beliefs of those who venerate them. In addition to his Nebula, Hugo, World Fantasy, Bram Stoker, Edgar, and other awards, Ellison was called “one of the great living American short story writers” by the Washington Post—and this collection makes it clear why he has earned such an extraordinary assortment of accolades. Stories include: “Introduction: Oblations at Alien Altars” “The Whimper of Whipped Dogs” “Along the Scenic Route” “On the Downhill Side” “O Ye of Little Faith” “Neon” “Basilisk” “Pretty Maggie Moneyeyes” “Corpse” “Shattered Like a Glass Goblin” “Delusion for a Dragon Slayer” “The Face of Helene Bournouw” “Bleeding Stones” “At the Mouse Circus” “The Place with No Name” “Paingod” “Ernest and the Machine God” “Rock God” “Adrift Just Off the Islets of Langerhans: Latitude 38° 54' N, Longitude 77° 00' 13" W” “The Deathbird”

All Future Plunges to the Past
Author: José Vergara
Publisher: Cornell University Press
ISBN: 1501759914
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 168
Book Description
All Future Plunges to the Past explores how Russian writers from the mid-1920s on have read and responded to Joyce's work. Through contextually rich close readings, José Vergara uncovers the many roles Joyce has occupied in Russia over the last century, demonstrating how the writers Yury Olesha, Vladimir Nabokov, Andrei Bitov, Sasha Sokolov, and Mikhail Shishkin draw from Joyce's texts, particularly Ulysses and Finnegans Wake, to address the volatile questions of lineages in their respective Soviet, émigré, and post-Soviet contexts. Interviews with contemporary Russian writers, critics, and readers of Joyce extend the conversation to the present day, showing how the debates regarding the Irish writer's place in the Russian pantheon are no less settled one hundred years after Ulysses. The creative reworkings, or "translations," of Joycean themes, ideas, characters, plots, and styles made by the five writers Vergara examines speak to shifting cultural norms, understandings of intertextuality, and the polarity between Russia and the West. Vergara illuminates how Russian writers have used Joyce's ideas as a critical lens to shape, prod, and constantly redefine their own place in literary history. All Future Plunges to the Past offers one overarching approach to the general narrative of Joyce's reception in Russian literature. While each of the writers examined responded to Joyce in an individual manner, the sum of their methods reveals common concerns. This subject raises the issue of cultural values and, more importantly, how they changed throughout the twentieth century in the Soviet Union, Russian emigration, and the post-Soviet Russian environment.
