El paisaje es considerado un factor relevante para las politicas de ordenacion del territorio. Los estudios de paisaje juegan un rol integrador entre las disciplinas implicadas, al establecer un lenguaje comun. La incorporacion de la componente ecologica es uno de sus aportes significativos. Asimismo, el paisaje puede ser entendido como un fenomeno natural (objeto), a partir del conjunto de elementos que lo constituyen, independiente del observador, y como un fenomeno cultural (sujeto), considerando las valoraciones que las personas hacen de el. En este marco, el trabajo se propone investigar el potencial del concepto de paisaje, para colaborar en el desarrollo de directrices, planes y proyectos territoriales. Se estudian diferentes aportes conceptuales y metodologicos y se ponen en practica a partir del analisis paisajistico de tres ambitos del Uruguay. Los referentes provienen de la Ecologia del Paisaje, la Geografia, la Arquitectura del Paisaje y el Ordenamiento Territorial. Para la evaluacion de los paisajes se utiliza la guia Landscape Character Assessment y para el analisis de la estructura y funcionamiento del paisaje se utilizan las metodologias de la Ecologia del Paisaje."

The Archaeology of Roman Portugal aims to contribute to the wider debate on Roman imperialism and expansionism, by bringing to the fore a much-underrepresented area of the Roman empire, at least in English-language scholarship: its westernmost edge in modern day Portugal. Highlighting the perspective from Roman Portugal will contribute to our understanding of the Roman empire, because it presents both an extraordinary landscape in the sense of economic opportunities (ocean resources, marble and metal mining) and settlement history. The volume aims to present new data and insights from both archaeology and ancient history, and to discuss their significance for our understanding of Roman expansion and imperialism. A key goal of the volume is to discuss how the Portuguese panorama compares to other areas of the Iberian peninsula. An explicit goal of the volume is to better integrate Portuguese scholarship in the academic debate on the Mediterranean Roman world, and to contextualize it firmly in the wider Iberian and Western Mediterranean context. Therefore, chapters are produced by internationally diverse scholars in archaeology and ancient history from Portugal, Spain, Germany, the UK, the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy. A monograph concerning the sanctuary of Dodona and its role in the political context of Epirus might be a remarkable input. Macedonia is a region that provides its own intriguing questions due to its position on the fringe of the classical Greek world. It is also an area which is of special interest to students of history and archaeology of Roman period Greece since it was the first to be incorporated in the Roman state. Macedonia shared a similar path of development with Achaea during the imperial period. As provinces far from productive zones and frontiers, both played a minor role in the imperial administrative structure. Beneath this similarity, however, lie many differences: in Macedonia's proximity to the Balkans, its early contact with Rome, its relatively low level of urbanization, its multicultural context and its sizeable economy, which played their own role in the formation of the urban and rural environments. With a focus on elements of the built environment and human habitat, this book examines old and new archaeological evidence to present a concise overview of the archaeology of the area and develop a better perception of the region in terms of archaeology of the built environment, architecture and architectural influences, urbanization and use of land and resources from the 2nd century BCE to the early 4th century CE. Los contenidos de este volumen son un reflejo de las diversas problemáticas relacionadas con el estudio arqueológico de los paisajes agrarios: los métodos de registro, la caracterización histórica y social de las comunidades rurales preindustriales, así como la problemática presente y las perspectivas de futuro en este ámbito. Un primer bloque presenta una serie de experiencias de investigación en diversas áreas de la Península en las que se muestra una convergencia en cuanto a los objetivos de investigación (estudios territoriales, análisis del poblamiento rural) y los procedimientos de registro. Un segundo bloque con una singularidad propia es el que se refiere a las investigaciones orientadas de manera preferente a la documentación física de los espacios agrarios antiguos. En tercer lugar, contamos con dos aportaciones que cubren otro aspecto fundamental dentro de esta temática, como es el de la ganadería, una actividad económica y una cultura si cabe más invisible aún que la de los trabajadores de la tierra.
