The purpose of this manual is to provide the latest approved procedures for rigging Dual Row Airdrop System (DRAS) platforms. This manual is written for use by the parachute rigger. The procedures contained in this manual are typical and serve as the standard from which all DRAS platform rigging is derived. Chapters 1 and 2 contain specific limitations and general information about the rigging of DRAS airdrop platform loads for low-velocity airdrop from the C-17 (Globemaster) aircraft, shows and tells how to prepare, attach, and safety tie some of the components and systems used in the specific rigging chapters of the TM 4-48.05 (FM 4-20.105 VOL I & II)/TO 13C7-1-51. This publication applies to the Active Army, the Army National Guard (ARNG)/Army National Guard of the United States (ARNGUS), and the United States Army Reserve (USAR), U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). The proponent of this publication is the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). The proponent has the authority to approve exceptions or waivers to this regulation that are consistent with controlling law and regulations. The proponent may delegate this approval authority, in writing, to a division chief within the proponent agency or its direct reporting unit or field operating agency, in the grade of colonel or the civilian equivalent. Activities may request a waiver to this regulation by providing justification that includes a full analysis of the expected benefits and must include formal review by the activity's senior legal officer. All waiver requests will be endorsed by the commander or senior leader of the requesting activity and forwarded through their higher headquarters to the policy proponent.
