The authors present new information on the effect of fluorine and how to make use of fluorination techniques and fluorine compounds. With emphasis on recent developments, this book is suitable for students, researchers and engineers working in chemistry, materials science and electrical engineering. - Contains practical information, supported by examples - Provides an update on recent developments in the field - Written by specialists working in fluorine chemistry, electrochemistry, polymer and solid state chemistry

Chemical Physics of Intercalation

Chemical Physics of Intercalation PDF Author: A.P. Legrand
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1475796498
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 503

Book Description
Conjugated polymers suoh as polyaoetylene (CH)x polyphenylene (C6H4)x' poly thiophene (C4H2S)x' etc., which are insulators in their pristine state, can be brought to the metallic state after "doping" with ohemioal speoies whioh oan be either eleotron donors or I aoceptors. . This doping prooess involves a oharge transfer between the dopant moleoule and the polymer ohain whioh are then supposed to be spatially olose to each other. It follows that the meohanism of doping must be oonsidered as an aotual interoalation process, which will greatly affeot the struotural oharacteristios of the starting material, as well as its morphology, as has been observed during the 2 intercalation of graphite and layered compounds . In parallel with these modifioations, the band struoture of the system changes yielding a new set of eleotronio properties. It is evident therefore that the struotural and eleotronio properties are intimately related, and must be studied simultaneously in the same system to give reliable information. A great number of studies have been devoted to the structural and electronic properties of conjugated polymers after a chemical or 2 electrochemical doping process . Most of these concern the properties of the system for a given dopant concentration. With this approach a universal pioture of the polymer/dopant system is very diffioult to obtain, as a comparison between different experiments is very hazardous. On the other hand, only a small number of measurements have been performed during the continuous electroohemioal doping of various polymers.

Low-Dimensional Solids

Low-Dimensional Solids PDF Author: Duncan W. Bruce
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119972930
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 380

Book Description
With physical properties that often may not be described by the transposition of physical laws from 3D space across to 2D or even 1D space, low-dimensional solids exhibit a high degree of anisotropy in the spatial distribution of their chemical bonds. This means that they can demonstrate new phenomena such as charge-density waves and can display nanoparticulate (0D), fibrous (1D) and lamellar (2D) morphologies. This text presents some of the most recent research into the synthesis and properties of these solids and covers: Metal Oxide Nanoparticles Inorganic Nanotubes and Nanowires Biomedical Applications of Layered Double Hydroxides Carbon Nanotubes and Related Structures Superconducting Borides Introducing topics such as novel layered superconductors, inorganic-DNA delivery systems and the chemistry and physics of inorganic nanotubes and nanosheets, this book discusses some of the most exciting concepts in this developing field. Additional volumes in the Inorganic Materials Book Series: Molecular Materials Functional Oxides Porous Materials Energy Materials All volumes are sold individually or as comprehensive 5 Volume Set.

Inorganic Solid Fluorides

Inorganic Solid Fluorides PDF Author: Paul Hagenmuller
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 654

Book Description
Inorganic Solid Fluorides: Chemistry and Physics deals with the chemical and physical properties of inorganic solid fluorides and covers topics ranging from methods used in the preparation of fluorides to the crystal chemistry of fluorides and transition metal oxyfluorides. Defects in solid fluorides are also discussed, along with fluorine intercalation compounds of graphite and high oxidation states in fluorine chemistry. This book is comprised of 21 chapters and begins with an overview of general trends related to fluorides, including bonding problems and economic implications of fluorides.

Mo Molybdenum

Mo Molybdenum PDF Author: Karl-Heinz Tytko
Publisher:
ISBN: 9783662088395
Category : Chemistry
Languages : en
Pages : 360

Book Description
In the first part of this voLume the oxide hydrates incLuding the hydroxides and hydroxide oxides of MOIII to MoVJare described. (The anhydrous moLybdenum oxides can be found in the voLume "MoLybdän" Erg.-Bd. B 1,1975.) The compounds Mo0 ·nHp with n=1 and 2 are 3 investigated in detail. They are true oxide hydrates and not "molybdic acids". For complete ness the hydrogen insertion compounds H with O.

Electrolytes for Lithium and Lithium-Ion Batteries

Electrolytes for Lithium and Lithium-Ion Batteries PDF Author: T. Richard Jow
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1493903020
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 488

Book Description
Electrolytes for Lithium and Lithium-ion Batteries provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific understanding and technological development of electrolyte materials in the last several years. This book covers key electrolytes such as LiPF6 salt in mixed-carbonate solvents with additives for the state-of-the-art Li-ion batteries as well as new electrolyte materials developed recently that lay the foundation for future advances. Electrolytes for Lithium and Lithium-ion Batteries is ideal for electrochemists, engineers, researchers interested in energy science and technology, material scientists, and physicists working on energy.

Fluorine Chemistry at the Millennium

Fluorine Chemistry at the Millennium PDF Author: R.E. Banks
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080531792
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 661

Book Description
This volume brings together contributions by leading researchers covering a wide scope so characteristic of fluorine chemistry. It is a monograph of historical character comprising personalized accounts of progress and events in areas of particular interest. There is also much to interest and instruct chemists from other disciplines as a good proportion of the chapters contain a considerable amount of 'hard' referenced information relating to modern organic, organoelemental and inorganic chemistry. Historians of chemistry and technology will no doubt be tempted to dip into this book, and surely whoever addresses the task of commemorating Moissan's achievement at the 150-years stage will bless us all in some measure for its existence.
