Cette thèse a visé l'étude du diamant monocristallin synthétisé par dépôt chimique en phase vapeur assisté par plasma micro-onde (MPCVD). Les travaux ont permis le développement et l'optimisation des conditions d'élaboration à partir de l'analyse de la qualité cristalline, de la pureté du matériau et de ses caractéristiques électroniques.L'évaluation des propriétés de transport a été la plus déterminante : une étude poussée sur la mesure par temps de vol a permis la mesure de la mobilité et l'étude de la cinétique des porteurs en fonction de la température. Complétées par des mesures d'efficacité de collecte des charges, l'ensemble a permis d'atteindre des valeurs remarquables de mobilités des porteurs dans le diamant (3000 cm2.V-1.s-1). Ces échantillons ont été montés en détecteurs et utilisés avec succès en conditions réelles pour le monitorage d'impulsions ultrarapides, pour la mesure sous flux de neutrons, ainsi que comme dosimètres médicaux en radiothérapie.
