The Sustainable Transportation Performance
Author: Siyun Sha
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 122
Book Description
This professional report aims to develop a transportation performance measurement system that will evaluate and achieve the sustainability objectives for the Austin metropolitan area Activity Centers, while addressing the Federal Livability Principles. It employs the use of local data for the evaluation of performance measures, and provides a platform upon which both current and future development scenarios can be evaluated. Based on a literature review and other studies on travel behavior and transportation performance, it is possible to derive the appropriate indicator measurements according to the sustainability. The overarching purpose of this report is to develop a set of performance indicators that reflect sustainability concerns. These indicators will be appropriately quantified and benchmarked, and will address each objective, such as reduction of automobile vehicle miles travelled (VMT). The main challenge of this report is that many sustainability indicators are not practically implemented at the community level, but can be more easily considered at the aggregate level.

Sustainable Mobility in a Fast-Changing World
Author: Nancy Vandycke
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031089618
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 188
Book Description
Our world is changing fast. Countries’ transport systems, which have long been shaped by project-by-project considerations, must help achieve higher-level goals for the well-being of mankind, as embodied by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement. New forces impose greater effectiveness in the way public choices are made, such as making better use of data and technologies, adopting a more inclusive and participatory approach to decision making, and addressing social concerns about equity. Transport practitioners and country decision-makers have been looking for structured and coherent guidance about ways to adjust to these new dynamics and change the trajectory of transport system. This book examines the rationale for and details an innovative approach for public decision-making to expedite the pace to sustainable mobility.
