Reduction of Three-Halves Harmonic Emission from Laser-Produced Plasmas with Broadwidth Induced Spatial Incoherence at 0.53 Micrometers

ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 27
Book Description
Measurements of the omega sub 0/2 emission from Laser irradiated targets at 0.53 microns were made at three angles over a wide range of Laser bandwidths with and without induced spatial incoherence (ISI) echelons. THe 3 microns/2 emission was found to be correlated with hard x rays but not Raman spectra suggesting that the 3 omega sub 0/2 radiation was due to two plasmon decay. Reduction of both 3 omega sub 0/2 emission and the accompanying hard x rays by ISI required five to ten times Larger bandwidths than needed to suppress stimulated Raman scattering and stimulated Brilloin scattering.

Lasers-Induced Plasmas and Applications
Author: Leon J. Radziemski
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000147371
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 474
Book Description
This book discusses the physics of plasma initiation and reviews the features of dissipating, propagating plasmas. It deals with advances in diagnostics for high-energy, laser-fusion plasmas. The book reviews the basic physical processes, plasma characteristics of the "continuous optical discharge".

Stimulated Raman Scatter from Laser-produced Plasmas

Languages : en
Pages : 10
Book Description
Stimulated Raman scattering in plasmas is a three-wave instability with important practical consequences for laser fusion. Most studies of this process to date have focused on its threshold. Even the linear-theory threshold poses interesting problems; and observed thresholds have been difficult to interpret. However, with increasing evidence that this instability often becomes absolute, it has become appropriate to examine saturation mechanisms as well. A number of such mechanisms are discussed here, one of which has been reported to have a chaotic regime. 26 refs., 4 figs.

X-Rays From Laser Plasmas
Author: I. C. E. Turcu
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 348
Book Description
Soft X-rays have great potential for use in a wide variety of applications, including the semiconductor industry and the life sciences. X-Rays from Laser Plasmas: Generation and Applications focuses exclusively and in detail on the science and technology of soft X-rays produced with non-synchrotron sources. Using a minimum of mathematical formulae, it discusses how such X-rays can be efficiently and economically generated from plasmas produced by lasers, and how they interact with matter. Authored by Dr Edmond Turcu, one of the pioneers in this field, X-Rays from Laser Plasmas: Generation and Applications will be of great interest to a wide variety of readers, including all those working in X-ray lithography, microscopy, and radiobiology.
