Book Description
Spectral representations of Schroedinger operators T = -Delta + Q(y) are constructed, where delta is the N-dimensional Laplacian and Q(y) is a real-valued long-range potential; i.e., Q(y) = 0(abs. val of y to the - epsilon power), Labs. val. of y approaches infinity), 0

Surgical Anatomy and Technique

Surgical Anatomy and Technique PDF Author: Lee J. Skandalakis
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9780387095141
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 696

Book Description
Surgical Anatomy and Technique: A Pocket Manual, consistently places in the top 10 bestsellers for Springer. The third edition will ensure its continued place on the list. The authors know exactly what makes this book popular: expansive scope; concise descriptions of anatomy and technique; illustrations on nearly every page; and its compact, portable size. The challenge, then, is in the very careful selection of topics and the need to be restrained in spite of the many surgical innovations that beg to be included but that have not yet stood the test of time. Toward that end, the third edition of Surgical Anatomy and Technique includes a limited amount of new material: 3 vascular procedures (abdominal aortic aneurysm, femoropopliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy) and 2 gynecologic procedures commonly performed by general surgeons (hysterectomy and oopherectomy). In addition, all of the existing chapters will be updated to reflect current surgical approaches and instrumentation. Third-year medical students, surgical residents and practicing surgeons will find this handbook to be one of their most-frequently-used resources.

Spectral and Scattering Theory for Second Order Partial Differential Operators

Spectral and Scattering Theory for Second Order Partial Differential Operators PDF Author: Kiyoshi Mochizuki
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351648942
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 131

Book Description
The book is intended for students of graduate and postgraduate level, researchers in mathematical sciences as well as those who want to apply the spectral theory of second order differential operators in exterior domains to their own field. In the first half of this book, the classical results of spectral and scattering theory: the selfadjointness, essential spectrum, absolute continuity of the continuous spectrum, spectral representations, short-range and long-range scattering are summarized. In the second half, recent results: scattering of Schrodinger operators on a star graph, uniform resolvent estimates, smoothing properties and Strichartz estimates, and some applications are discussed.

Perturbation Theory for Linear Operators

Book Description
From the reviews: "[...] An excellent textbook in the theory of linear operators in Banach and Hilbert spaces. It is a thoroughly worthwhile reference work both for graduate students in functional analysis as well as for researchers in perturbation, spectral, and scattering theory. [...] I can recommend it for any mathematician or physicist interested in this field." Zentralblatt MATH

Mathematical Scattering Theory

Mathematical Scattering Theory PDF Author: Baumgärtel
Publisher: Birkhäuser
ISBN: 3034854404
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 448

Book Description
The aim of this book is to give a systematic and self-contained presentation of the Mathematical Scattering Theory within the framework of operator theory in Hilbert space. The term Mathematical Scattering Theory denotes that theory which is on the one hand the common mathematical foundation of several physical scattering theories (scattering of quantum objects, of classical waves and particles) and on the other hand a branch of operator theory devoted to the study of the behavior of the continuous part of perturbed operators (some authors also use the term Abstract Scattering Theory). EBBential contributions to the development of this theory are due to K. FRIEDRICHS, J. CooK, T. KATo, J. M. JAuCH, S. T. KURODA, M.S. BmMAN, M.G. KREiN, L. D. FAD DEEV, R. LAVINE, W. 0. AMREIN, B. SIMoN, D. PEARSON, V. ENss, and others. It seems to the authors that the theory has now reached a sufficiently developed state that a self-contained presentation of the topic is justified.

Partial Differential Equations and Spectral Theory

Partial Differential Equations and Spectral Theory PDF Author: Michael Demuth
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 303480024X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 351

Book Description
This volume collects six articles on selected topics at the frontier between partial differential equations and spectral theory, written by leading specialists in their respective field. The articles focus on topics that are in the center of attention of current research, with original contributions from the authors. They are written in a clear expository style that makes them accessible to a broader audience. The articles contain a detailed introduction and discuss recent progress, provide additional motivation, and develop the necessary tools. Moreover, the authors share their views on future developments, hypotheses, and unsolved problems.

Estimates and Asymptotics for Discrete Spectra of Integral and Differential Equations

Estimates and Asymptotics for Discrete Spectra of Integral and Differential Equations PDF Author: M. Sh Birman
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 9780821841068
Category : Differential equations
Languages : en
Pages : 218

Book Description
The Leningrad Seminar on mathematical physics, begun in 1947 by V. I. Smirnov and now run by O. A. Ladyzhenskaya, is sponsored by Leningrad University and the Leningrad Branch of the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The main topics of the seminar center on the theory of boundary value problems and related questions of analysis and mathematical physics. This volume contains adaptations of lectures presented at the seminar during the academic year 1989-1990. For the most part, the papers are devoted to investigations of the spectrum of the Schrödinger operator (or its generalizations) perturbed by some relatively compact operator. The book studies the discrete spectrum that emerges in the spectral gaps of the nonperturbed operator, and considers the corresponding estimates and asymptotic formulas for spectrum distribution functions in the large-coupling-constant limit. The starting point here is the opening paper, which is devoted to the important case of a semi-infinite gap. The book also covers the case of inner gaps, related questions in the theory of functions, and an integral equation with difference kernel on a finite interval. The collection concludes with a paper focusing on the classical problem of constructing scattering theory for the Schrödinger operator with potential decreasing faster than the Coulomb potential
