Nanostructured Materials

Nanostructured Materials PDF Author: C. Koch
Publisher: Taylor & Francis US
ISBN: 9780815514510
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 1920

Book Description
Nanostructure science and technology has become an identifiable, if very broad and multidisciplinary, field of research and emerging application in recent years. It is one of the most visible and growing research areas in materials science in its broadest sense. Nanostructured materials include atomic clusters, layered (lamellar) films, filamentary structures, and bulk nanostructured materials. The common thread to these materials is the nanoscale dimensionality, i.e. at least one dimension less than 100 nm, more typically less than 50 nm. In some cases, the physics of such nanoscale materials can be very different form the macroscale properties of the same substance, offering often superior properties that warrant much interest in these materials. Including contributions from twenty-one international contributors, Nanostructured Materials focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and properties relevant to nanostructured materials applications that require bulk and mainly inorganic materials. Topics include synthesis and processing of powders and films, thermal spray processing of nanocrystalline materials, solid state processing, nanocrystalline powder consolidation methods, electrodeposited nanocrystalline materials, computer simulation of nanomaterials, diffusion, gas reactive applications, magnetic properties, mechanical behavior, structure formation, mechanical behavior of two-phase materials, and more.

Nanostructures And Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Properties, And Applications (2nd Edition)

Nanostructures And Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Properties, And Applications (2nd Edition) PDF Author: Guozhong Cao
Publisher: World Scientific Publishing Company
ISBN: 981310077X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 596

Book Description
This is the 2nd edition of the original “Nanostructures and Nanomaterials” written by Guozhong Cao and published by Imperial College Press in 2004.This important book focuses not only on the synthesis and fabrication of nanostructures and nanomaterials, but also includes properties and applications of nanostructures and nanomaterials, particularly inorganic nanomaterials. It provides balanced and comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals and processing techniques with regard to synthesis, characterization, properties, and applications of nanostructures and nanomaterials. Both chemical processing and lithographic techniques are presented in a systematic and coherent manner for the synthesis and fabrication of 0-D, 1-D, and 2-D nanostructures, as well as special nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and ordered mesoporous oxides. The book will serve as a general introduction to nanomaterials and nanotechnology for teaching and self-study purposes.

Bulk Nanostructured Materials

Bulk Nanostructured Materials PDF Author: Michael J. Zehetbauer
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527626905
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 736

Book Description
The processing and mechanical behaviour of bulk nanostructured materials are one of the most interesting new fields of research on advanced materials systems. Many nanocrystalline materials possess very high strength with still good ductility, and exhibit high values of fatigue resistance and fracture toughness. There has been continuing interest in these nanomaterials for use in structural and biomedical applications, and this has led to a large number of research programs worldwide. This book focuses on the processing techniques, microstructures, mechanical and physical properties, and applications of bulk nanostructured materials, as well as related fundamental issues. Only since recently can such bulk nanostructured materials be produced in large bulk dimensions, which opens the door to their commercial applications.

Silicon-Based Nanomaterials

Silicon-Based Nanomaterials PDF Author: Robert W. Kelsall
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3039210424
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 94

Book Description
Silicon has been proven to be remarkably resilient as a commercial electronic material. The microelectronics industry has harnessed nanotechnology to continually push the performance limits of silicon devices and integrated circuits. Rather than shrinking its market share, silicon is displacing “competitor” semiconductors in domains such as high-frequency electronics and integrated photonics. There are strong business drivers underlying these trends; however, an important contribution is also being made by research groups worldwide, who are developing new configurations, designs, and applications of silicon-based nanoscale and nanostructured materials. This Special Issue features a selection of papers which illustrate recent advances in the preparation of chemically or physically engineered silicon-based nanostructures and their application in electronic, photonic, and mechanical systems.
