CMOS Telecom Data Converters

CMOS Telecom Data Converters PDF Author: Angel Rodríguez-Vázquez
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1475737246
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 610

Book Description
CMOS Telecom Data Converters compiles the latest achievements regarding the design of high-speed and high-resolution data converters in deep submicron CMOS technologies. The four types of analog-to-digital converter architectures commonly found in this arena are covered, namely sigma-delta, pipeline, folding/interpolating and flash. For all these types, latest achievements regarding the solution of critical architectural and circuital issues are presented, and illustrated through IC prototypes with measured state-of-the-art performances. Some of these prototypes are conceived to be employed at the chipset of newest generation wireline modems (ADSL and ADSL+). Others are intended for wireless transceivers. Besides analog-to-digital converters, the book also covers other functions needed for communication systems, such as digital-to-analog converters, analog filters, programmable gain amplifiers, digital filters, and line drivers.

Integrated Circuit Design. Power and Timing Modeling, Optimization and Simulation

Integrated Circuit Design. Power and Timing Modeling, Optimization and Simulation PDF Author: Bertrand Hochet
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 354045716X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 510

Book Description
The International Workshop on Power and Timing Modeling, Optimization, and Simulation PATMOS 2002, was the 12th in a series of international workshops 1 previously held in several places in Europe. PATMOS has over the years evolved into a well-established and outstanding series of open European events on power and timing aspects of integrated circuit design. The increased interest, espe- ally in low-power design, has added further momentum to the interest in this workshop. Despite its growth, the workshop can still be considered as a very - cused conference, featuring high-level scienti?c presentations together with open discussions in a free and easy environment. This year, the workshop has been opened to both regular papers and poster presentations. The increasing number of worldwide high-quality submissions is a measure of the global interest of the international scienti?c community in the topics covered by PATMOS. The objective of this workshop is to provide a forum to discuss and inves- gate the emerging problems in the design methodologies and CAD-tools for the new generation of IC technologies. A major emphasis of the technical program is on speed and low-power aspects with particular regard to modeling, char- terization, design, and architectures. The technical program of PATMOS 2002 included nine sessions dedicated to most important and current topics on power and timing modeling, optimization, and simulation. The three invited talks try to give a global overview of the issues in low-power and/or high-performance circuit design.

Silicon Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits

Silicon Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits PDF Author: Horst Zimmermann
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3030058220
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 456

Book Description
Explains the circuit design of silicon optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEICs), which are central to advances in wireless and wired telecommunications. The essential features of optical absorption are summarized, as is the device physics of photodetectors and their integration in modern bipolar, CMOS, and BiCMOS technologies. This information provides the basis for understanding the underlying mechanisms of the OEICs described in the main part of the book. In order to cover the topic comprehensively, Silicon Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits presents detailed descriptions of many OEICs for a wide variety of applications from various optical sensors, smart sensors, 3D-cameras, and optical storage systems (DVD) to fiber receivers in deep-sub-μm CMOS. Numerous detailed illustrations help to elucidate the material.

Low Power VCO Design in CMOS

Low Power VCO Design in CMOS PDF Author: Marc Tiebout
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 354029256X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 126

Book Description
This work covers the design of CMOS fully integrated low power low phase noise voltage controlled oscillators for telecommunication or datacommuni- tion systems. The need for low power is obvious, as mobile wireless telecommunications are battery operated. As wireless telecommunication systems use oscillators in frequency synthesizers for frequency translation, the selectivity and signal to noise ratio of receivers and transmitters depend heavily on the low phase noise performance of the implemented oscillators. Datacommunication s- tems need low jitter, the time-domain equivalent of low phase noise, clocks for data detection and recovery. The power consumption is less critical. The need for multi-band and multi-mode systems pushes the high-integration of telecommunication systems. This is o?ered by sub-micron CMOS feat- ing digital ?exibility. The recent crisis in telecommunication clearly shows that mobile hand-sets became mass-market high-volume consumer products, where low-cost is of prime importance. This need for low-cost products - livens tremendously research towards CMOS alternatives for the bipolar or BiCMOS solutions in use today.

High Speed and Wide Bandwidth Delta-Sigma ADCs

High Speed and Wide Bandwidth Delta-Sigma ADCs PDF Author: Muhammed Bolatkale
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319058401
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 135

Book Description
This book describes techniques for realizing wide bandwidth (125MHz) over-sampled analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in nano meter-CMOS processes. The authors offer a clear and complete picture of system level challenges and practical design solutions in high-speed Delta-Sigma modulators. Readers will be enabled to implement ADCs as continuous-time delta-sigma (CT∆Σ) modulators, offering simple resistive inputs, which do not require the use of power-hungry input buffers, as well as offering inherent anti-aliasing, which simplifies system integration. The authors focus on the design of high speed and wide-bandwidth ΔΣMs that make a step in bandwidth range which was previously only possible with Nyquist converters. More specifically, this book describes the stability, power efficiency and linearity limits of ΔΣMs, aiming at a GHz sampling frequency.
