Transparent Soil Modelling Technique and Its Application

Transparent Soil Modelling Technique and Its Application PDF Author: Honghua Zhao
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 981196825X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 365

Book Description
This book systematically introduces the advancement of transparent soil modelling technique and its application. The transparent soil modelling technique provides an essential tool for visualizing soil-structure interaction and other geotechnical problems such as grouting, soil plugging. The geotechnical properties of the newest transparent soils were reported on model sand, clay and rock. In addition, more advanced image processing methods were summarized. In this book, numerous applications of transparent soil modelling techniques for different geotechnical problems were presented, and the results obtained are supplemented by numerical calculation and theoretical analysis.

Construction Vibrations

Construction Vibrations PDF Author: C. H. Dowding
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 648

Book Description
The entire field of construction-induced vibrations - including advances in earthquake engineering, nuclear blast protective design, and construction and mine blasting - is covered in this work. Frequency of vibration and strain form the foundation for the presentation of the material.

Avoiding Damage Caused by Soil-structure Interaction

Avoiding Damage Caused by Soil-structure Interaction PDF Author: Richard Kastner
Publisher: Thomas Telford
ISBN: 9780727731241
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 108

Book Description
Increasing development in the urban environment and supporting infrastructure systems has necessitated a greater use of underground space and sites that were hitherto judges to be not economically viable (e.g. because of difficult ground conditions). This presents many challenges in terms of planning, design and construction as well as the protection of existing buildings. Understanding the complex nature of soil-structure interaction and the resulting ground movements is an integral part of assessing developments involving new construction, for example tunnels and deep excavations.

Landslides and Their Stabilization

Landslides and Their Stabilization PDF Author: Ch. Veder
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3709176042
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 257

Book Description
This book was written with the objective of providing geotechnical engineers with a practical guideline on how to cope with landslides as well as of acquaint ing them with the present state of physical fundamentals and scientific expla nations for the phenomenon of landslides. The book is based on my personal experiences, gathered over decades of work as geotechnical engineer on construction sites in Austria and many other parts of the world, which I also use in my lectures at the Technical University of Graz, Austria. The method of stabilizing lands lides by short-circuit conductors has been developed by myself and has been patented in Germany and Italy. A number of publications already exists (see References) on this method, and of course I also deal in this book with its theoretical and practical aspects. Here I want to thank my assistants, Messrs. J. Dalmatiner, K. Eigenberger, E. Garber, H. Kienberger, R. Pötscher, and W. Prodinger, for working with me on various projects and for assisting me in the drafting of some chapters of this book, Mr. A. Trippl for preparing the illustrations, and my wife for many a Sunday worked through with me.

Basics of Foundation Design

Basics of Foundation Design PDF Author: Bengt Fellenius
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1365824004
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 488

Book Description
The "Red Book" presents a background to conventional foundation analysis and design. The text is not intended to replace the much more comprehensive 'standard' textbooks, but rather to support and augment these in a few important areas, supplying methods applicable to practical cases handled daily by practising engineers and providing the basic soil mechanics background to those methods. It concentrates on the static design for stationary foundation conditions. Although the topic is far from exhaustively treated, it does intend to present most of the basic material needed for a practising engineer involved in routine geotechnical design, as well as provide the tools for an engineering student to approach and solve common geotechnical design problems.

Dry Mix Methods for Deep Soil Stabilization

Dry Mix Methods for Deep Soil Stabilization PDF Author: H. Bredenberg
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 135145451X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 376

Book Description
It is a truism that we can no longer freely pick areas with the most suitable ground conditions for building purposes. Soils must often be improved in order to take the loads from buildings, roads and other objects. This volume contains papers covering a range of relevant topics and issues.
