The book is divided into six chapters, and six stages of healing: Falling, Burning to Ashes, Sparks of Phoenix, Rising, Soaring, and finally, A New Chapter, which demonstrates a healthy response to new love as the result of authentic healing. Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
Orbach's memoir is a stylish and inspiring account of his life in Berlin's underworld of "divers" where young Jews survived by street smarts and an indomitable spirit which he delicately portrays. After his father is arrested and his mother and sister go into hiding, the young man is left to his own devices finding company among other survivors who outwit the Nazis in surreal adventures. Finally, betrayed by an informer, Orbach is sent to Auschwitz. But, as he says himself, he has left that part of his journey for others to tell, concentrating instead on the humanity and faith which he found on Berlin's streets. Distributed by Paul and Company. Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 520

Book Description
“Patriots is a miracle of suspense, a mined labyrinth of electrifying politics, terror, and philosophy, which will rank with the classics of storytelling.” —Richard Condon, author of The Manchurian Candidate As dawn breaks on Veterans Day, the American president grapples with the responses—both good and bad—to the announcement of his post–Cold War disarmament initiative, a plan based on nuclear deterrence and reduced troop strength. From an airfield in New York, a Vietnam War hero takes to the skies in a stolen fighter jet armed with Patriot missiles, setting course for Cuba. His actions put in motion by coded phrase known only to a select few. And on an air force base in Washington, DC, one intel officer realizes that only she can put together the pieces of a treasonous conspiracy, one in which shocking acts of deception, betrayal, and assassination will plunge the country into chaos—and pit two superpowers against each other in the ultimate showdown . . . In Patriots, Steve Sohmer puts you into the cockpit of a rogue warplane, around the table in the tense White House Situation Room, and into the minds of men and women willing to sacrifice it all for love and loyalty.

Awakening to Reality

Awakening to Reality PDF Author: Fabrizio Pregadio
Publisher: Golden Elixir Press
ISBN: 0984308210
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 114

Book Description
Awakening to Reality (Wuzhen pian) is one of the most important and best-known Taoist alchemical texts. Written in the eleventh century, it describes in a poetical form, and in a typically cryptic and allusive language, several facets of Neidan, or internal alchemy. The present book presents the first part of the text, consisting of sixteen poems, which contain a concise but comprehensive exposition of Neidan. In addition to notes that intend to clarify the meaning of the more obscure points, the book also contains selections from a commentary dating from the late eighteenth century, which is distinguished by the use of a lucid and plain language. ⿿ Fabrizio Pregadio has taught at the University of Venice (1996-97), the Technical University of Berlin (1998-2001), and Stanford University (2001-08). He is the author of Great Clarity: Daoism and Alchemy in Early Medieval China (Stanford University Press, 2006) and the editor of The Encyclopedia of Taoism (Routledge, 2008).
