The protagonists are the Haitian Eve Renée Marguerite Dorleac, born Hirsch, and the Colombian Nicolás Rubén Jaramillo Sarmiento during their common and intensive moments in Europe. Both belong to a land of magic where they exist above and apart from reality. Both are possessed of each other and are protected by a set of wise and benevolent loas called Rada. For All the Lost Souls
Author: Dowayne L. Anderson
Publisher: Dog Ear Publishing
ISBN: 1457566095
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 92
Book Description
America has now been at war in Afghanistan for 17 years. Most of us who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces have lost friends, family…brothers and sisters-in-arms. The journey of this book and the reflections of the writing within are but a small dedication to all those who have served, currently serving and the ones who will serve this great nation in the future. Some of the poems within are purely fictitious in nature. Some on the other hand, were written in light of circumstances that were occurring around me. Although some of the writings are fictitious, this book has been deeply personal for me write. It did not start out that way. But as reflected in the writings, it morphed into something much bigger than initially intended. It is my sincere hope that this book will be well received. Ladies and Gentlemen, my second book: “For All The Lost Souls.”

SMS Communication
Author: Louise-Amélie Cougnon
Publisher: John Benjamins Publishing Company
ISBN: 9027270309
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 276
Book Description
The media often point an accusatory finger at new technologies; they suggest that there is always a loss of information or quality, or even that computer-mediated communication is destroying language. Most linguists, on the contrary, are firmly convinced that it is better to consider language as an evolving and changing entity. From this point of view, language is a social tool that has to be studied in-depth through the prism of objectivity, as a process in motion which is influenced by new social and technological stakes, rather than as a fading organism. In this volume we study and describe the societal phenomenon of SMS writing in its full complexity. The aim of this volume is threefold: to present recent linguistic research in the field of SMS communication; to inform the reader about existing large SMS corpora and processing tools and, finally, to display the many linguistic aspects that can be studied via a corpus of text messages. These articles were previously published in Lingvisticae Investigationes Vol. 35:2 (2012).
