Excerpt from Schultz's Seeds, 1919 Culture. - Spi-nach may be grown on any ordinary soil, and its cultivation is a very simple matter. It is grown both as a Spring and Summer crop. For early use, sow in August or September, in drills 12 to 14 inches apart. At the approach of cold weather cover lightly With straw, or any handy litter. Uncover when the plants begin to make a new growth ln Spring. For Summer use, sow early in Spring in the same way as above, using rather less seed. If the plants stand too thick, thin to 3 or 4 inches apart. A lib e'ral dressing of good manure should be used. The land can hardly be made too rich.
