It is not profitable to begin the study of the slide trombone in this way, as the instruments has no mechanical device in its structure, and therefore presents the following difficulties: the intonation and the handling of the slide; the latter is an element which bears the same importance as the bow does for string instruments.My long experience as a teacher has convinced me that the rudimentary study of this instrument must be similar to that of string instruments.
