Excerpt from Roman Antiquities: Recently Discovered on the Site of the National Safe Deposit Company's Premises, Mansion House, London The most perfect specimen of an inscribed tile is probably that formerly possessed by the late E. B. Price, f.s.a. And now in the British Museum. It is a large imbrex or ridge-tile, and has upon it in bold letters pp. Br. Lon. It was found in \vood Street. Similar ridge-tiles have been found at York bearing legionary inscriptions, and had been selected for sepulchral purposes. These bore Upon them legvi. VI (logie Sexta Victrix); also leg. IX. Risp. (logie Nona iiispanica); also at Chester in commemoration of the twentieth legion, leg. XX. VV. See also tiles found at Caerleon and at Slack near Huddersfield, where a tile-tomb was discovered formed with anged tiles 21 inches by 16, having upon them 1111. Dre. They are described by J. Fairless Barber, Arch. Lnstit. Vol. 24. See also others figured by C. Roach Smith. In his Excavations of Lymne, p. 21, viz. CL. Dr., which have reference to the British Fleet, viz.
