Book Description
Headlines frequently appear that purport to highlight the differences among workers of different generations and explain how employers can manage the wants and needs of each generation. But is each new generation really that different from previous ones? Are there fundamental differences among generations that impact how they act and interact in the workplace? Or are the perceived differences among generations simply an indicator of age-related differences between older and younger workers or a reflection of all people adapting to a changing workplace? Are Generational Categories Meaningful Distinctions for Workforce Management? reviews the state and rigor of the empirical work related to generations and assesses whether generational categories are meaningful in tackling workforce management problems. This report makes recommendations for directions for future research and improvements to employment practices.

Complementary and Alternative Therapies Research

Complementary and Alternative Therapies Research PDF Author: Tiffany Field
Publisher: American Psychological Association (APA)
ISBN: 9781433804014
Category : Alternative medicine
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Psychologists and other mental health practitioners frequently work with patients whose symptoms only partially respond to psychotherapy. Even when their patients are satisfied with improvements, the therapist wishes to see their recovery complete. Other patients may have been diagnosed with a medical illness and need help coping with both the illness and its treatment. In these and other cases, the therapist may wish to consider interventions from what are collectively known as complementary and alternative therapies. This book describes the most common complementary and alternative therapies that have empirical support from peer-reviewed journals and provides guidance on which therapies have been most useful for which psychological and medical issues. In chapters that cover massage and acupressure, acupuncture, tai chi, yoga and pilates, exercise, music and aroma therapy, hypnosis, biofeedback, progressive relaxation, meditation, and the use of imagery, the author documents the positive emotional, behavioral, physiological, and biochemical effects of these therapies as well as proposed mechanisms of change. Additional information is provided on two major psychotherapies that have been shown to successfully integrate several of complementary therapies into traditional frameworks. Although focused primarily on adults, the book offers data and guidance on pediatric populations as well. Clear information on the training and credentials of complementary and alternative therapy practitioners and contact information on professional associations is provided, so that psychotherapists can have confidence in making referrals to and then working with these other practitioners in the context of psychotherapy. The information presented throughout is easily accessible to graduate students and to novice and seasoned clinicians and researchers.

Book Description
In some cases, technology-based projects have revolutionized the way of living by contributing to job and wealth creation. Alternative Real Estate Research

Alternative Real Estate Research PDF Author: Ling Hin Li
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317644840
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 150

Book Description
This book aims to provide insight into the "soft" side of real estate research and the interesting results and implications of the real estate research outside the traditional realm of investment/financial aspects. The book also attempts to answer what constitutes the so-called "soft-side" of real estate research if we shift our focus from the usual financial returns and investment analysis. It also attempts to address whether there is such thing as an alternative real estate research paradigm. The book also argues that research in real estate should not only be limited to land and property market performance analyses as this may greatly impair the potential research implications of various real estate studies. The book argues that such analyses take on a very myopic view of real estate research. This book will interest many who wish to learn more about the alternative aspect of real estate research which is more than just about investment analysis.

Research Anthology on Food Waste Reduction and Alternative Diets for Food and Nutrition Security

Research Anthology on Food Waste Reduction and Alternative Diets for Food and Nutrition Security PDF Author: Management Association, Information Resources
Publisher: IGI Global
ISBN: 1799853551
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1318

Book Description
The world population is expected to increase exponentially within the next decade, which means that the food demand will increase and so will waste production. The increasing demand for food as well as changes in consumption habits have led to the greater availability and variety of food with a longer shelf life. However, there is a need for effective food waste management and food preservation as wasted food leads to overutilization of water and fossil fuels and increasing greenhouse gas emissions from the degradation of food. The Research Anthology on Food Waste Reduction and Alternative Diets for Food and Nutrition Security explores methods for reducing waste and cutting food loss in order to help the environment and support local communities as well as solve issues including that of land space. It also provides vital research on the development of plant-based foods, meat-alternative diets, and nutritional outcomes. Highlighting a range of topics such as agricultural production, food supply chains, and sustainable diets, this publication is an ideal reference source for policymakers, sustainable developers, politicians, ecologists, environmentalists, corporate executives, farmers, and academicians seeking current research on food and nutrition security.
