It is absolutely essential that the compensation allowed to the pr should be commensurate With their services and sufficient to afford the means porting themselves and their families. The funds of the institute are not sufficient at time to provide adequately for their maintenance. The tuition fees of the pay cadets h been limited to 50 per annum, and the board have refused to increase them, from h0pe that the institution would not be required to sustain itself, as is the case in other cc leges, by a tax upon learning and education, but that the bounty of the state would malt provision for her necessities. The fact is undeniable, that the low price of tuition enable numbers of those who are pay cadets to receive an education in part at the expense.
