Interaction of the Rocky Mountain Foreland and the Cordilleran Thrust Belt

Interaction of the Rocky Mountain Foreland and the Cordilleran Thrust Belt PDF Author: Christopher J. Schmidt
Publisher: Geological Society of America
ISBN: 0813711711
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 637

Book Description
This volume emphasizes the interaction of the Cordilleran thrust belt and Rocky Mountain foreland in studies of regional structural geology, geophysics, and sedimentology from west-central Montana to Arizona. The volume outlines how the nature of the Rocky mountain foreland and its deformation affect the geometry of the Cordilleran thrust belt. Many of the structural and geophysical studies reported in this volume also address the question of which structures - forland or thrust belt - developed first in a specific region and how early formed structures influenced later ones. Several chapters address the nature and style of foreland development.

The Red Army's Do-It-Yourself, Nazi-Bashing Guerrilla Warfare Manual

The Red Army's Do-It-Yourself, Nazi-Bashing Guerrilla Warfare Manual PDF Author: Lester Grau
Publisher: Casemate
ISBN: 1612000207
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 460

Book Description
The WWII Soviet guerilla training manual that became an essential text for freedom fighters across the globe—complete with illustrations. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union during World War II, the Red Army began recruiting local partisans to help mount a resistance. This edition of The Partisan’s Companion is the last and best Red Army manual used to train these men to fight Nazi invaders. Besides field craft, it covers partisan tactics, German counter-guerrilla tactics, demolitions, German and Soviet weapons, scouting, camouflage, anti-tank warfare, and antiaircraft defense for squad and platoon-level instruction. It contains the Soviet lessons of two bitter years of war and provides a good look at the tactics and training of a mature partisan force. While this handbook was a vital part of Soviet victory over the Nazis, its usefulness outlived the Second World War. It was later used to train guerrilla groups in the developing world during their wars of national liberation in the 1950s–70s. Even the fedayeen guerrillas who fought US and coalition forces in Iraq relied on this manual for training, tactics, and general approach to combat. A selection of the Military Book Club.

Pages : 368

Book Description
This instant #1 New York Times bestseller and “modern techno-thriller” (New York Journal of Books) follows covert operative Mitch Rapp in a terrifying race to stop Russia’s gravely ill leader from starting a full-scale war with NATO. When Russian president Maxim Krupin discovers that he has inoperable brain cancer, he’s determined to cling to power. His first task is to kill or imprison any countrymen threatening him. But when his illness becomes increasingly serious, he decides on a dramatic diversion—war with the West. Upon learning of Krupin’s condition, CIA director Irene Kennedy understands that the US is facing an opponent who has nothing to lose. The only way to avoid a confrontation that could leave millions dead is to send Mitch Rapp to Russia under impossibly dangerous orders. With the Kremlin’s entire security apparatus hunting him, he must find and kill a man many have deemed the most powerful in the world. The fate of the free world hangs in the balance in this “timely, explosive novel that shows yet again why Mitch Rapp is the best hero the thriller genre has to offer” (The Real Book Spy).

Book Description
"Blackie and Red, a pair of ten-year-old orphans, have a common goal. They want to be able to fight each other to the finish and at last prove who is the better man. This constant feuding has caused them much grief at the orphanage, so they decide to run away. They are rescued from the wild (and each other) by Andy Connell. Connell has seen the two boys fight. From the beginning he sees that Blackie is not hindered by a sense of fair play; however, Red is by nature honest and open. Connell is a prospector who has not yet found his fortune; his greatest challenge is in getting his wife to accept the young orphans. Brand continues to develop this story over the years as the boys grow to men and Andy Connell strikes the ''mother lode'' he has sought for so long."--Fantasticfiction.com
