Book Description
Each province and territorial government in Canada has developed its own organizational structure for conducting geoscientific survey and research work. This document contains organization charts for each government, set out in standard format. The charts contain reference to the lines of reporting of the various units in each hierarchy, the workforce associated with each separate jurisdiction, and the names and telephone numbers of key individuals in each system. Next, the document outlines provincial geological survey expenditures for the past year, and describes highlights of the provincial programs. It concludes with a survey of hard rock drill core programs, and discovery methods for metal mines that opened.

Global Neoproterozoic Petroleum Systems

Global Neoproterozoic Petroleum Systems PDF Author: Jonathan Craig
Publisher: Geological Society of London
ISBN: 9781862392878
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 322

Book Description
Worldwide, Neoproterozoic successions are major hydrocarbon producers. In North Africa, large basins with significant surface outcrops and thick sedimen-tary fills are widespread. These basins are now emerging as potential sources of hydrocarbons and are attracting interest both from geological researchers and the oil and gas industry. This volume focuses on recent developments in the understanding and correla-tion of North African basin fills and explores novel approaches to prospecting for source and reservoir rocks. The papers cover aspects of petroleum prospectivity and age-equivalent global petroleum systems, Neoproterozoic tectonics and pa-laeogeography, sequence stratigraphy, glacial events and global climatic models, faunal and floral evolution and the deposition of early source rocks. The broader aim is to compare with, and learn from, well-studied Neoproterozoic successions globally, including major environmental change, the emergence of life, the global carbon cycle and implications for hydrocarbon exploration.

Origin, Evolution, Environmental Impact of Oceanic LIPs

Origin, Evolution, Environmental Impact of Oceanic LIPs PDF Author: Clive R. Neal
Publisher: Geological Society of America
ISBN: 0813725119
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 352

Book Description
The origin, evolution, and environmental impact of large igneous provinces (LIPs) represents a topic of high scientific importance because the magmatism associated with these features cannot be directly related to plate tectonics, and because the eruption of flood basalts may have global environmental consequences. Oceanic LIPs are even more poorly understood due to their relative inaccessibility. This volume takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding LIP origin, evolution, and environmental impact in ocean basins. Papers that focus on plate tectonic reconstructions, petrologic and geophysical investigations of various LIPs, and sedimentological and micropaleontological evidence of syn-LIP sediments are presented. Precious materials and data from dredging cruises and scientific ocean drilling expeditions have made this volume possible.
