Tropospheric Radiowave Propagation Beyond the Horizon

Tropospheric Radiowave Propagation Beyond the Horizon PDF Author: François Du Castel
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483164845
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 268

Book Description
Tropospheric Radiowave Propagation Beyond the Horizon deals with developments concerning the tropospheric propagation of ultra-short radio waves beyond the horizon, with emphasis on the relationship between the theoretical and the experimental. Topics covered include the general conditions of propagation in the troposphere; general characteristics of propagation beyond the horizon; and attenuation in propagation. This volume is comprised of six chapters and begins with a brief historical look at the various stages that have brought the technique of transhorizon links to its state of development. The discussion then turns to the physical properties of the troposphere and the phenomenon of tropospheric propagation; influence of the troposphere and the Earth on transhorizon propagation; and theoretical and experimental determination of attenuation in propagation. Experimental data relating to transhorizon propagation are presented. Theories of diffraction and turbulent scattering are described. This book will be helpful to physicists and physics students as well as those who are engaged in the problem of long-range telecommunication and in the interdependence of theory and experience.

Radio Wave Propagation for Telecommunication Applications

Radio Wave Propagation for Telecommunication Applications PDF Author: Hervé Sizun
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3540266682
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 423

Book Description
This book describes the physical mechanisms involved in the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the radiofrequency range, inside and outside buildings, in the terrestrial and near space environments, with a special focus on mobile radio communication. It combines a theoretical and an experimental approaches with an understanding of the physical environment through adequate formulations of the laws of electromagnetism. It should thus provide the background needed by advanced students and development engineers for the conception of high quality and reliable telecommunication systems.

Radio Techniques for Probing the Terrestrial Ionosphere

Radio Techniques for Probing the Terrestrial Ionosphere PDF Author: Robert D. Hunsucker
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642762573
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 302

Book Description
In the years since the pioneering efforts of Sir Edward Appleton, M. A. F. Barnett, G. Breit, and M. A. Thve, many radio techniques have been employed to investigate the terrestrial ionosphere. The purposes of this book are to exam ine the basic physical interaction process of radio waves with the ionosphere, scrutinize each of the radio techniques currently in use, and describe the elements of each technique, as well as assess their capabilities and limitations. I have included some of the history of each technique, since we often tend to forget the efforts of the "pioneers". The interaction of radio waves with the terrestrial ionosphere has been described in considerable detail in several "classic" treatments, e.g., Ratcliffe (1959), Al'pert (1963), Budden (1961) and Davies (1965), Rishbeth and e.g., Flock (1979), Davies Garriott (1969), and in other more recent books, (1990), Hargreaves (1979), and Budden (1985). A few of the radio techniques have been described by Hargreaves (1979) and a book by Giraud and Petit (1978) has also included discussion of several of the techniques. The "WITS" handbook No. 2 (1989) also contains description of several radio techniques.
