This study investigates the impact of increased fuel prices on fuel consumption and the potential for energy conservation in transportation in the U.S. in the years 1980, 1985 and 1990. All passenger and freight transportation is included in the study. The report contains five parts plus a summary. The introduction sets forth the key economic and policy assumptions of the study. Part 2 presents the data, analysis and projections for the passenger modes. Part 3 does the same for the freight modes. Part 4 includes a regional breakdown of the consumption of several key fuels.
