Book Description
A WILD RIDE A prisoner is locked in the shed next door. Suburban bystander Blake Davis knows he's there, so why hasn't she told the police? Wrestling with her response to the danger unfolding, Blake is drawn from the monotony of married life into the intoxicating fold of the Army of Outlaws. As she learns more about her magnetic but dangerous new neighbor, Hayden, temptation lures her into the darkness... into his lawless world. Will her addiction to adrenaline be her savior-or take her past the point of no return? "Loved it! Page-turner. I finished it in TWO DAYS and couldn't put it down! If you like romantic suspense and anti-heroes, give this a read. Wow. Amy Oppenheim is a great writer. I'm going to start this review with a big pat on the back to the writer because it is clear that she knows what she is doing. [ The first time she fantasized about cheating on her husband was the day she and Craig moved into their new place by the beach in Ventura, California. ] What an opening line! And right from the get-go, the author is building tension between Blake, the main character, and Hayden, a motorcycle gang member who lives next door. As the story unfolds, her husband seems less and less like a hero that deserves Blake's loyalty. Which is better, a bad man who lets you know he's bad, or a good man who pretends he isn't evil? ...The fact that everyone is kind of awful made me love this book. It's really hard to figure out what is going to happen next if no one is trustworthy. When I started to read this book, I just couldn't put it down. I finished it in two days." - Kelly Haynes, Reedsy Reviewer

A woman’s field guide to the new frontier of professional development—working with other women Women-to-women relationships in the workplace are . . . complicated. When they’re good, they’re great. But when they’re bad, they can ruin your day, your week—even your year. Packed with proven advice from two of today’s leading experts in workplace relationships, this one-of-a-kind guide gives women the tools they need to navigate difficult situations unique to women-to-women relationships—whether with a boss, a colleague, a client, or an employee. Have you dealt with a woman in the workplace who: “Accidentally” excludes you from important meetings? Seems intent on taking you down professionally? Gossips about you with other coworkers? After all, who hasn’t gossiped about a female coworker? Who hasn’t rolled her eyes in the presence of a woman she doesn’t like? Who hasn’t scanned another woman head to toe—which is just a nonverbal way of saying, “You’ve just been judged”? The authors provide invaluable advice to the more subtle ways of being mean—even if they’re not intended. With a workforce composed of a higher percentage of women than ever, workplace dynamics have changed. Crowley and Elster cover every conceivable scenario, providing critical advice on how to rise above the fray and move forward professionally. Mean Girls at Work is your map to dodging the mines and moving forward in today’s transformed workplace. The authors have finally given women the tools and the sound advice necessary to deal with . . . conflicts that keep us all from succeeding. . . . Book Description
Two former best friends return to their college reunion to find that they’re being circled by someone who wants revenge for what they did ten years before—and will stop at nothing to get it—in this “propulsive” (Megan Miranda, bestselling author of The Girl from Widow Hills) psychological thriller. A lot has changed since Ambrosia Wellington graduated from college, and she’s worked hard to create a new life for herself. But then an invitation to her ten-year reunion arrives in the mail, along with an anonymous note that reads, “We need to talk about what we did that night.” It seems Ambrosia’s past—and the people she thoughts she’d left there—aren’t as buried as she believed. Amb can’t stop fixating on what she did or who she did it with: larger-than-life Sloane “Sully” Sullivan, Amb’s former best friend, who could make anyone do anything. At the reunion, Amb and Sully receive increasingly menacing messages, and it becomes clear that they’re being pursued by someone who wants more than just the truth of what happened that first semester. This person wants revenge for what they did and the damage they caused—the extent of which Amb is only now fully understanding. And it was all because of the game they played to get a boy who belonged to someone else and the girl who paid the price. Alternating between the reunion and Amb’s freshman year, The Girls Are All So Nice Here is a “chilling and twisty” (Book Riot) “page-turner” (Entertainment Weekly) about the brutal lengths girls can go to get what they think they’re owed, and what happens when the games we play in college become matters of life and death.

When She was Bad

When She was Bad PDF Author: Patricia Pearson
Publisher: Penguin Group
ISBN:
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 312

Book Description
While national crime rates have recently fallen, crimes committed by women have risen 200 percent, yet we continue to transform female violence into victimhood by citing PMS, battered wife syndrome, and postpartum depression as sources of women?s actions. When She Was Bad convincingly overturns these perceptions by telling the stories of such women as Karla Faye Tucker, who was recently executed for having killed two people with a pickax; Dorothea Puente, who murdered several elderly tenants in her boarding house; and Aileen Wuornos, a Florida woman who shot seven men. Patricia Pearson marshals a vast amount of research and statistical support from criminologists, anthropologists, psychiatrists, and sociologists, and includes many revealing interviews with dozens of men and women in the criminal justice system who have firsthand experience with violent women. When She Was Bad is a fearless and superbly written call to reframe our ideas about female violence and, by extension, female power.
