La investigación tiene por objeto general formular Políticas y Estrategias de Diplomacia de Defensa para incrementar la participación de las Fuerzas Armadas de Bolivia en Operaciones de Mantenimiento de Paz de las Naciones Unidas, basadas principalmente en todo el marco normativo legal vigente, donde se tiene como premisa básica el carácter pacifista del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia y el "vivir bien", buscándose la ayuda a los pueblos del mundo. La propuesta busca, sobre todo, el fortalecimiento de la Diplomacia de Defensa, donde, por intermedio de la acción de las Fuerzas Armadas de Bolivia en el campo de las Relaciones Internacionales, en las Operaciones de Mantenimiento de Paz de las Naciones Unidas, se reforzará la acción del Estado en la búsqueda de la integración y la cooperación en temas de seguridad y defensa, regional y mundial. Bolivia es miembro de las Naciones Unidas y tiene el deber de aportar su contribución a la paz y seguridad internacionales y, participando en Operaciones de Mantenimiento de Paz de las Naciones Unidas, no estará, de manera ninguna, dejando de ser un Estado pacifista, además de estar, por las características de esas operaciones, contribuyendo con el desarrollo de otros Estado que así necesitan.
