Nonlinear Phenomena in Mathematical Sciences

Nonlinear Phenomena in Mathematical Sciences PDF Author: V. Lakshmikantham
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483272052
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 1062

Book Description
Nonlinear Phenomena in Mathematical Sciences contains the proceedings of an International Conference on Nonlinear Phenomena in Mathematical Sciences, held at the University of Texas at Arlington, on June 16-20,1980. The papers explore trends in nonlinear phenomena in mathematical sciences, with emphasis on nonlinear functional analytic methods and their applications; nonlinear wave theory; and applications to medical and life sciences. In the area of nonlinear functional analytic methods and their applications, the following subjects are discussed: optimal control theory; periodic oscillations of nonlinear mechanical systems; Leray-Schauder degree theory; differential inequalities applied to parabolic and elliptic partial differential equations; bifurcation theory, stability theory in analytical mechanics; singular and ordinary boundary value problems, etc. The following topics in nonlinear wave theory are considered: nonlinear wave propagation in a randomly homogeneous media; periodic solutions of a semilinear wave equation; asymptotic behavior of solutions of strongly damped nonlinear wave equations; shock waves and dissipation theoretical methods for a nonlinear Schr?dinger equation; and nonlinear hyperbolic Volterra equations occurring in viscoelasticity. Applications to medical and life sciences include mathematical modeling in physiology, pharmacokinetics, and neuro-mathematics, along with epidemic modeling and parameter estimation techniques. This book will be helpful to students, practitioners, and researchers in the field of mathematics.

Pages : 715

Book Description
Advances in Maritime Technology and Engineering comprises a collection of the papers presented at the 7th International Conference on Maritime Technology and Engineering (MARTECH 2024) held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 14-16 May 2024. This Conference has evolved from the series of biannual national conferences in Portugal, which have become an international event, reflecting the internationalization of the maritime sector and its activities. MARTECH 2024 is the seventh of this new series of biannual conferences. This book comprises 142 contributions that were reviewed by an International Scientific Committee. Advances in Maritime Technology and Engineering is dedicated to maritime transportation, ports as well as maritime safety and reliability. It further comprises sections dedicated to ship design, cruise ship design, and to the structural aspects of ship design, such as ultimate strength and composites, subsea structures as pipelines, and to ship building and ship repair. The Proceedings in Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering series is dedicated to the publication of proceedings of peer-reviewed international conferences dealing with various aspects of “Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering”. The series includes the proceedings of the following conferences: the International Maritime Association of the Mediterranean (IMAM) conferences, the Marine Structures (MARSTRUCT) conferences, the Renewable Energies Offshore (RENEW) conferences and the Maritime Technology (MARTECH) conferences. The “Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering” series is also open to new conferences that cover topics on the sustainable exploration of marine resources in various fields, such as maritime transport and ports, usage of the ocean including coastal areas, nautical activities, the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources, the protection of the marine environment and is resources, and risk analysis, safety and reliability. Multiagent Systems

Multiagent Systems PDF Author: Magdi S. Mahmoud
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000078027
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 415

Book Description
Multiagent systems (MAS) are one of the most exciting and the fastest growing domains in the intelligent resource management and agent-oriented technology, which deals with modeling of autonomous decisions making entities. Recent developments have produced very encouraging results in the novel approach of handling multiplayer interactive systems. In particular, the multiagent system approach is adapted to model, control, manage or test the operations and management of several system applications including multi-vehicles, microgrids, multi-robots, where agents represent individual entities in the network. Each participant is modeled as an autonomous participant with independent strategies and responses to outcomes. They are able to operate autonomously and interact pro-actively with their environment. In recent works, the problem of information consensus is addressed, where a team of vehicles communicate with each other to agree on key pieces of information that enable them to work together in a coordinated fashion. The problem is challenging because communication channels have limited range and there are possibilities of fading and dropout. The book comprises chapters on synchronization and consensus in multiagent systems. It shows that the joint presentation of synchronization and consensus enables readers to learn about similarities and differences of both concepts. It reviews the cooperative control of multi-agent dynamical systems interconnected by a communication network topology. Using the terminology of cooperative control, each system is endowed with its own state variable and dynamics. A fundamental problem in multi-agent dynamical systems on networks is the design of distributed protocols that guarantee consensus or synchronization in the sense that the states of all the systems reach the same value. It is evident from the results that research in multiagent systems offer opportunities for further developments in theoretical, simulation and implementations. This book attempts to fill this gap and aims at presenting a comprehensive volume that documents theoretical aspects and practical applications.
